I’m glad he doesn’t take his “gangsta” too seriously to dance. Rappers dancing in their own videos has become a forgotten practice (except for Will Smith). However, watching Cassidy dance is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time (except for Will Smith). You can get all the funky chicken you can handle in Cassidy’s newest video “B-Boy Stance” [watch it now]

This song shows more lyrical prowess than his leadoff single that came out 2 years ago! (On the strength of “I’m A Hustla” his sophomore LP should have loooong since been released.) I was glad to hear Cass not resting his laurels on a vocal sample. While I’ve still yet to hear anything other than crack and guns from him, the kid has talent.
But, that’s not what we’re here to discuss, now is it?
We need to talk about these convulsions the kid is having in these videos! He did it for a little bit in “I’m A Hustla” as well. What we write off as dancing, I believe is a seizure of some kind. Taking nothing away from the actual breakers he has in the video, Cassidy himself dances like he has advanced case of crabs.
The video is like instructions for washing your hair: Pose, jook, lift shirt, repeat. Taking place almost solely on a crowded stage, Cassidy and his co-defendants menace a crowd of ladies with their weaponry and thug bravado.
I used to think I could beat Cassidy’s ass. He looks like a cricket. I still think I could beat Cassidy’s ass, but given what we now know about him… I think we’ve found the rapper that WILL let a cap off in your ass… or your back in his case. I mean the dude who cut his eye in the club... I don't think he throwin no more bottles, tho.
Pac, Biggie, Pun… Yeah, yeah, yeah... You know who the rap world is REALLY gonna miss? Johnnie Cochran! Oh, the sweet irony in Cassidy talking about Johnnie (R.I.P.) and the gun in his pants. That’s one man whose spirit most of these fast-talkin rappers would channel today if they could… Especially the ones with the guns in their pants looking at murder-one.
Without question, as hater of the year, my favorite part of this video is when he shits ALL OVER 50 Cent and the Girl-Unit! That 50 Cent bit was fuckin hilarious. Cassidy, if you ever get to read this, I’m gonna have someone give you their cornbread. That’s from me, Ron Mexico!
Swizz Beatz is like the new Puffy. If you don’t mind the rodent-skeletor on the hook and in the camera, then I suggest you give this one a turn or two. It’s an entertaining video with a decent song to match. Did Cassidy try to bridge the gap between classic and contemporary? Or did he just say something he heard some older dudes say and throw it on top of some of his pre-existing notebook verses? Discuss.
