This week’s "Throwback Thursday" selection is a DOUBLE throwback of sorts. In 1998, suburban rap-rock group Wolpac decided to pay homage to the 1990 Digital Underground classic “Humpty Dance.” [watch it now] Do not adjust your set. Four Limp Bizkit look-alikes have decided to do the hump!

Cover songs are always a huge risk, especially when you are not yet established into the maintstream. Having done a cover is far less worthwhile when 7 years later you still live in your parents’ basement and Ron Mexico gets a hold of the video you never took down from the Blastro archives.
Apparently Matt Dillon got some ill-advised cornrows and had a big ass house party while his parents were on vacation. Scenarios like this are cheeky, yet fun when it’s a 17 year old (or Will Smith) responsible for the mischief. When you’re 26, there’s something pretty sad about bringing full-fledged strippers and budding porn actresses into your mom’s hot tub. Do you really want to cause your parents to divorce by giving them both chlamydia? That’s right. They’ll each wonder how they got it, blame each other, and separate.
His homeboys include pop dance aficionado Wade Robson, and a couple of dudes who look like extras in American History X (NOT calling them racists or skinheads). His homegirls include… well… Jenna Jameson. That’s right… Eminem wasn’t the first to put Jenna in a rap video.
The video combines old-school house party fun with new school methods of misogyny and exploitation of women including lapdances and ass-grabs in the back of Dad’s car. This shit is like “Fast Times at Ridgemont Community College.” While I can only assume that their intentions are earnest, I can’t help but ask myself: “Is this appreciation or exploitation of our culture?”
Not that it’s necessarily important, but I’m getting a really chilly feeling that these boys are from Michigan. I’d love to know what you guys think. I know this seems like an easy one to take pock shots at, but I ask today that you put a little thought to your responses. I think there’s a little more to it than “FUCKEN STUPIT AZZ WITE BOYZ BE HATEN! WHY DESE WYTE NIGGAS RAPPEN ON 2PAC OLD GROUP SONG 4 NE WAY! OH YEA, RON MEXICO YOU A MEXICAN HATTER!”
…Seriously, this some crazy shit! Late night Blastro binges can fuck your mind up. Be glad you’re not Ron Mexico.

funny... a lot of black rappers who lack flow get a LOT of love here.
this is the fuckin humpty dance...
humpty hump song...
produced by shock g aka humpty hump...
how the fuck is this "pac shit?"
i was only mocking the ignorant when i even mentioned pac before. there were many other members of the group, including shock g, the lead vocalist. pac was a background dancer at this time... holding a keytar and shuffling his feet... how was this "his shit?"
“Is this appreciation or exploitation of our culture?”
BINGO!
As I began to watch this video, I took my little steno pad and pencil in order to jot down some jokes I could make--Well, none came to mind! I was actually disgusted.
At first, you may want to laugh at lines like,"I like my outmeal lumpy", and "Yeah I called you fat, look at me, I'm skinny." But given the song they are covering, and the original artists who first came out with the song, it is actually upsetting. iT is in fact exploitation at it's best.
I know that the original humpty dance song can't be categorized into the "socially/politically concious" hip hop of Digital Underground's day; however, this song can be categorized into the side of hip hop that was about having fun, having a good time, in essence, it was uplifting to our community. It took our minds off of drugs and guns and the projects and poverty, so that we could laugh for a few minutes, you know?
I am not upset that white people tried to cover the song, I am angry at how they covered it. They made it into a joke. It paid no homage in any way to Pac or Humpty. Makaveli must be rolling in his grave (or if he's still alive, he's pissed off somewhere on an Island south of Jamaica.)
The most disappointing thing about these guys is that they are prime examples of why white rappers find it hard to succeed in the rap game. They try so hard to portray what they THINK is "black", "hard", thugged out", "hip hop", and such--what they end up with is an exxaggerated version that comes across as a MOCKERY of our culture, even if it wasn't their intent.
Vanilla Ice always says he made it easier for white rappers to come out. I'd say he made it even harder for white rappers to come out.
Eminem is even more legendary as a lyricist because of the fact that he became so successful even with the whole "Ice ICe Baby" stigma hanging over his head.
Correction- Not that this was Pac's song, but as he was down with Digital Underground, he'd still be upset at this mockery of hip hop.
I'm with everybody on this page .As I recall there was no porn stars in the origanal, Nor was there any hot tubs or Behind shakin. All there was was a tall, skinny, Funny looking dude with a rubber nose attached to his glasses, some background dancers( who we knew as digital underground),that hot mink humpty had on. There was fun in this video just ....lust and Cheapness
I meant there was no fun in this video
Quick Observations
Was that a fake ass Ad Rock?
I bet that's Insane Clown Posse pulling a Kiss no make-up move.
Why were the 4 dudes in the hot tub and the girls sitting on top of the hot tub behind them? Shouldn't the girls be in the hot tub with at least 2 of the cats in the band?
This is nothing more than college white boy frat rock attempting to to hip hop.
well im glad these guys made such an impact in hiphop, oh wait...that was sarcasm, they F##king suck...
yo mex...holla at that red cafe's videos...i dunno if its just me..but sumthing aint right about them.
holla back...
p-p-p-p-p GAMBIT (doing the humpty dance)
oh, i seen them...
that's exactly how i felt... something is very wrong with those videos.
NSYNC ON CRACK.................NUFF SAID
