Once again, this week's #1 request comes in a complete and utter landslide. I am appalled by the number of emails I’ve gotten from grown-ass men to review the new video by Pretty Ricky, “Grind With Me.” [watch it now]
Okay, here goes…
I find it hilarious that not only is Pretty Ricky a group, but that all four of these niggas are hideous. This video looks like someone knocked over a canister of Ninja Turtle ooze on B2K.
Continuing in the tradition of "Barbie" and "Ken", Mattel presents its newest series, the Colored Boy Band action figures. "Pleasure," "Baby Blue," "Spectacular" and "Slickem" (each sold separately) sing or rap double-time when you pull their cord. Buy the Bumpin’ Boom Box and all four will dance a little jig for you when you press play! Complete the set with the sportscar, rented mansion, pool, labeled t-shirts and monogrammed towels (also sold separately).
As sexy as these dudes try to look for the ladies, they really only come off as either lame-duck, or wildly homosexual. From what I gathered reading t-shirts, towels, robes and belt buckles, “Pleasure,” “Baby Blue” and “Spectacular” are all stripper names… FEMALE stripper names! If someone told me I was going to watch a performance by those three names, I’d have a pocketful of singles ready and snag the seat closest to the pole. I’m not even going to discuss the connotation of “Slickem.”
One of these dudes looks like Musiq Soulchild’s little brother trying to rap like Do or Die. Another looks like a strange mixture of Lil’ Jon, Flava Flav and Baby the #1 Stunna, but sounds eerily like Yung Wun. I swear to you, the one with the extensions and twistses who claims to “gotcha hyp-ma-tized” looks like he used to be in Immature.
Needless to say, Pretty Ricky's collective effort to knock off Bobby Valentino failed miserably. After watching the video (once… just once) I was quickly able to deduce that this group is a potential triple-crown candidate. They could be the first group in Negro Channel history to win “Worst Sangin',” “Worst Rappin'” AND “Worst Dancin'” in the same year! To avoid such tragedy, they should hire T.I. to show them how to do that funky chicken properly.
I expect to see at least 2 of Pretty Ricky’s members on America’s Most Wanted in a few years after Pleasure wises up and takes his prison-bitch act solo.
I think, for once, you guys out there actually might want to shit on this video more than I do! Why Pretty Ricky? Isn’t there a new Baby Bash video out or something?

The first time I saw this video, I swear to god, I thought it was a joke. Come to find out, its not.
-Its begun, we're now seeing whats happened to the victims of priest-young boy relationships.
-The one in the pool thats supposed to be sexy looks more like the long lost brother of the Ying Yang Twins, who got raped by a wild boar. Ouch!
-The guy at the end sounded like Chino XL trying to do Thuggish Ruggish Bone. And he looked like Lil Jon and Bishop Don Magic Juan's lovechild.
-Someone should've informed the first guy that gettin a video ho thats taller than you, is gonna damage the respect you garner from any midget.
-The first guy also had what I guess you could call a rap, even though he tried to rhyme "-star" about 5 times, even resorting to spelling it out.
-Where do you get a name like Pretty Ricky? It really doesn't rhyme, and no one in the group's name is Ricky. As far as I know Ricky Smiley hasn't got his own boy band, has he?
-That sound in the beginning isn't them workin their vocal chords, its the Taliban preparing to eliminate the infidels.
-Its generally agreed upon that hiphop has bitten off of r&b and vice versa, but thats the first time I've ever heard anyone biting Brian McKnight.
-Guy #1 "Baby Blue" looks like a combination of Marques Houston, that guy from Terror Squad with the gangly teeth, Luis Guzman, and an ass(donkey).

Well personally I like the Pretty Ricky Video. I think it's cute and they've worked hard to make this all happen for them. Someone out there likes the video cause it's number 3 on 106th and Park! But I do agree with the person that said that Baby Blue should not have had a chick in the video taller than him that he's with!!!!
Over all I think they are gonna make name for themselves in the industry.

Well, I think that as for Pretty Ricky, young female teenagers like them, my 15 yr old niece wants their CD. "--what they don't understand is that my daily column is mainly a joke column. I make comedic commentary about music videos and help people criticize popular culture in a manner that is supposed to be lighthearted, clever and most importantly fun.
I mean Pretty Ricky no harm and wish them the best as people. If I rage against anything, it's the pop culture machine that feeds us loads of garbage. I'm bothered by the majority of the responses to that blog, because it's obviously a collection of young teen girls who google-searched "Pretty Ricky," found my site, know nothing about my daily column and unequivocally defend Pretty Ricky and the pop machine fueled by major record labels that wish to keep them in their pockets.
