After watching this new video to promote his latest album “Ghetto Bill Gates,” I’m left wondering if Master P’s money is getting a little short these days.
Today’s selection is brought to you by the man who had a gold tank in his videos a few years ago. I guess the solid gold ceilings, color changing impalas and C-Murder’s defense fund is finally catching up to him. Master P’s newest video “Get The Party Crackin’” [watch it now] features Silkk The Shocker, and his newest flunkies Halleluyah (almost like what your grandma say in chuuuch) and Rugar (oh boy).
Ain’t P and them supposed to be gajillionaires? Why does their video look like they snuck a camcorder into the Kitty Kat club? I’m all for making videos for the hood and keepin’ shit grimy every now and then, but this is pitiful. This video tiptoes across the fine line that separates intentional griminess and budget cutbacks. If Mr. Miller needs a little change to work with, I think the Charlotte Bobcats could still use a shooting guard.
Set in a greasy-looking night club filled to the brim with hoodrats, Master P and about 5 other chickenhawks take their pluck from the finest collection of part-time twurkers and full-time baby mamas Calliope projects has to offer. Right off the bat, I see womenses who look like menses. This is never a good sign, especially in a video working with the budget of your average public access rap program.
I gotta give P credit where it’s due. Not for the music, everything he’s touched has been horrible since "Ghetto D." I give P props for taking his son to Nickelodeon in the daytime, filming that lame-ass TV series, and then being able to jump into a phone booth by night and transform into this smoked-out ghetto scarecrow. Instead of trying to put these free-clinic free agents on the stroll, he stick to pimpin’ out his relatives. His son has been fetching a pretty penny for him. He should be putting out a Little Romeo album annually until that kid gets facial hair and it’s all over for No Limit... again!
Yeah, I said it. By the time it’s all said and done, there’s gonna be more No Limits than ESPNs. This is already the second or third. Since the first No Limit went down and he’s abandoned his catch phrase “UGGGHHH!,” he’s left exposed such awful lyrics as “Your chick chose me. Call me the plumber.” (huh?) The best line of the song comes from a monumental accomplishment, an on-beat Silkk verse! “Treat girls like cornrows. They go straight to the back.”
Having been a No Limit fan in the 90s, watching something like this is a little painful. Then again, I remember that he could have sold the original No Limit imprint to Sony for $700 million and I feel slightly less compassionate. You can watch what $68.35 can get you right here. I don’t know if he meant he was gonna get the party crackin', or get the party crack. All I can think about when I hear that phrase from him is the Ghetto D cover with P sitting there smoking a crack pipe.

Yo...I was just talking with someone about Master P the other day! This dude was riding high.. in Forbes and the whole nine. But since then, he's been on the straight fall off. I mean... he must be broke right now, right?
Master P still got paper. He lives in Beverly Hills!! Actually his rap skills was never all that, but who in hip hop was getting $.90 on every $1.00, sell 150K copies and make a million. Don't slip, P is a hustling mo'fucka. I read an interview he did a few weeks ago, and it he still got a few hundred million. Uggggggghhh!

-This video almost didn't bother me, but that's mostly due to the fact that I had just witnessed one of the worst things to happen to Rap City since Tiggers mama kicked them out of the basement: "Boyz N Da Hood" getting in the booth, they need to stay in the hood, and never go to a recording studio again.
