Fredro Starr - "Perfect Chick"

Oh shit! Have y’all ever seen this?!

If so… How come nobody’s said anything to me? You people aren’t on your job! You’re supposed to let me know when niggas do shit like this! (sigh) Needless to say, my late-night Blastro-find, Fredro Starr looking for the “Perfect Chick” [watch it now]... is this week’s selection for “Throwback Thursday.”

We all remember that Onyx member Fredro Starr made a name for himself as an individual through film and television. With semi-lead roles in respectable movies such as “Strapped” and “Sunset Park” already under his belt, he got his biggest break as the thug-boyfriend “Q” on “Moesha.” I didn’t hate. I was kinda glad to see the underrated Onyx dude getting some shine.

Upon watching the videos from his “Firestarr” album (the video for “Dying for Rap” is equally horrendous), I immediately Will Smith-ed this nigga. He should be acting and acting alone if he’s gonna be coming like this and disgracing the legacy of Onyx.

In “Perfect Chick” Fredro explores a concept most men have pondered at least once: “What if I could take my favorite attributes of my favorite womenses and make one superwomans?” Sounds like a good enough concept for a rap video, right?… Wrong! We’re talking about Fredro Starr here! The man crosses the line… habitually! He is a habitual line-stepper!

Taking a page out of 2Pac’s fashion book goes terribly wrong as Fredro dons a tight-ass leather vest and ends up looking more like R. Kelly on the cover of 12 Play. Intended to make him look sexy, he looks like nothing more than an undersized homo-thug with a digital camera breathing all over models.

That’s right. These girls aren’t video ho-fessionals! They’re models! Video hoes jiggle and stuff. If you put foofy Madison Avenue clothes on normal video hoes, and tell them not to p-pop it… you get models! Kinda like water on Sea Monkeys! Also note, the white ones are always just models by default. I give credit, some of these girls are actually nice looking. He could have done a lot worse, but I’m assuming he spent most of his budget on the Economy Modeling Service, as this video shows no evidence of costing more than the price of a camera and a dude to man it.

The best part is how he still grimaces like Sticky and Sonsee are right there beside him. You can’t do a video like this and still try to be Onyx! You are NOT hard! You got on a tight-ass leather vest… sometimes not even that! You can’t be hoppin’ around like you gonna murk somebody. Pay particular attention to the faces he makes while he’s on the floor snapping shots toward the middle of the video. Every last bit of hood is pussy-whipped out of him as he turns to the camera in defeat and goes “WOW!”

So, as I mentioned, he’s supposed to be a fashion photographer, but all he got is a camcorder… and a fuckin digi-cam! Combine this with the fact that he’s murmuring under his breath about how he could make these girls into his perfect chick the whole time, I say: RUN, bitches! RUN for your liiiiives! He’s a serial killer!

Please punish Fredro for his transgressions against Onyx fans, and more importantly, transgressions against himself. Watch this video a few times and use our handy space below to let Fredro know that behavior like this will not be tolerated. If he really needs work, there’s always UPN, my nigga! I also heard there’s open audition for Soul Plane 2.

  • I didn't even know this video and song existed, and I'm supposed to be up on this stuff.

You nailed that vest thing. Definately looks like the R. Kelly one from 12 Play.

But what's up with the beat? I can't believe this is the same guy who produced most of the last Onyz album. Those drums and the snare sound like the defaults in Fruity loops (okay, only 5 of understand that).

  • Our special today is filet of homo smothered in a former thug sauce....I mean really...WHAT THE FUCK WAS HE THINKING!!!! He was about 11 steps short of 12 play and 11 inches shorter than all of the models in the video. He looks like he could've taken the place of that dude in the group Shai who was always walking around with his shirt off posing and shit. He should've sold this shit to Aaron Hall he's dying to comeback and show R. Kelly who the boss is. Fredro's label should've slammed this shit down on the floor and do-do-do do-do-do done away with this.

  • A blind man might've confused him for Nas in this video. Everything from the beat to the lyrics to his voice, sound like Nas did them.

  • I had bought Sticky Fingaz first album (Black Trash), and it was hot. So I thought to myself, if this is HOT, and Fredro co-produced this album, and he dropped his own album first, the Fredro must have that crack! I bought it, and it was more like he was on crack. I heard better rhymes on Moesha than he had (except for "What if"). Somebody tell Fredro he owes me $15...

  • l think most of yall niggaz is haters. Why can`t u let a brother be, the song ain`t all that, but it`s just a song. U think dude`s gotta come out gully all the time. No wonder why good music no longer sells, cause most of u freaks be just waiting to look on the negative side of things. That shows you are frustrated with your own life and don`t want to see someone try do something. Everything is bad, should have done this or that. Man fuck yall niggaz man, u make me sick. Music is about having fun, not killing each other on the song. No wonder why u think Jay-Z is one of the greatest when he ain`t got shit meaningfull to say. Most of the rappers ain`t about shit, always thinking they talking something talking about they life story. Man, everybody has got a story to tell. Noone needs to hear about your life. Who the fuck r u. l would rather listen to MJ and moonwalk. Man fuck hiphop, wish we could have the days of BIG and Mase back, Puffy wanted people to have a good time, which is what music is all about or supposed to be about. BIG rapped about guns and drugs, but u could tell dude was just telling a story and u could feel the way he narrated it. lt sounded like u be watching a movie. So please stop hating on anyone trying to entertain us, and support each other. lf u don`t like it shut the fuck up or do something better.

  • That Nucca: This is all in fun, ya know. I don't know about everyone else, but when I clown on someone, thats what I'm doing, clowning. Its just good to keep a sense of humour about everything, ya dig?

  • Nucca, are you signed with him or something? lol
It's not personal. Or is it? It only matters to the bootleggers, and kids downloading the video on a 56k modem...after waiting like 3 days for the shit to download, you don't want to see trash. And that's where Ronnie comes in (pause).

  • Honestly, I couldn't sit through this entire video...

It appears as if Fredro and his peeps went cruising along Hunts Point and grabbed any chick they could find.

"If I could make the perfect chick...." Why is it that he is only referring to the physical attributes of famous women?

Someone please do me a favor. If you have the strength, energy, and the will-power to sit through this ENTIRE video while listening to the lyrics at the same time without falling asleep- really try and envision what his version of a "Perfect Chick" would look like...

    "A deformity beyond human recognition."

    I am saddened by this.

RONNIE: Much love from this side of the BX!!

  • Tammy... that is the best point to be made about this video. I meant to include it in the review because it was on my mind the whole time... I guess I got lost in the 12 Play jokes.

He only mentioned physical attributes... ridiculous. He couldn't even throw us a curveball and make the third verse about non-physical characteristics?

How could this woman look like a combination of ever female celebrity in BET history? He'd end up with something that looked far more like Dionne Warwick than Halle Berry.

Appreciated! Don't hold back. Please comment on other videos. I really do read them all, people.

CBW... 2 Points... He DOES look like Miles!

  • Wow did he pay those models in heroin cause they all look like they need a fix. They made sure to find some doped out hungry eye lookin tricks. The remix should have Sticky Fingas come out at the end and bitch slap Fredro in all his homo thug glory. Fredro should have put his foot in this directors ass for submitting a wack ass treatment like this. This was some boring crap. It's run of the mill on concept all they need is some liquor and a few more cars. Firestarter, no you are just flaming. Posing like he's Tupac, but instead of Thug Life, he'd just be a Thugs Wife.

  • Ya'll niggaz need to stop hating. Fredro is the man, hands down. Talking bout he look like a faggot or whatever. Ya'll bitches say it to his face. You the bitch not him. STOP HATING! He's accomplished a lot.

  • Ron Mexico says...
  • Why you mad?

With all he's accomplished... he shouldn't make a video like this.

When Jay-Z made the video for "Sunshine" he admitted that it was a huge mistake.

He is one of the greatest ever to do it on many levels.

Why can't other rappers be as humble?

    No worry... I'll humble them.

Call me Ronnie the Giant Killer.

Or in this case... the Closet Fashionista Midget Killer.

    Thanks for reading.

P.S.: I'd definitely say it to his face. What he gonna do? Get Ray-J on me?

  • Last time Fredro was in L.A. I heard he would bust a verse of Slam or Throw Ya Gunz in front of Roscoe's for a number 13... Brainstorm.... Ray J's "Wait A Minute". We can tear that shit up like parolees at a rib shack.
