Coolio feat. Krayzie Bone - "I Don't Wanna Die"

So that's where Coolio has been… locked up, huh? I thought he was on “The Surreal Life” or something.
For hump day, I trust my heart. Coolio rears his ugly head once again with a new video for his single “I Don’t Wanna Die.” [watch it now] Featuring Krayzie Bone, this record is the cornerstone of the “Bad Trip” soundtrack. (Has anyone seen this movie?)
Before we proceed today, I have to ask… Has it really gotten that bad for Krayzie Bone that he has to collab with Coolio? Wasn’t he just on a big Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz single? As I watch Coolio (a former heavyweight in the rap game) degrade himself for a dollar, I can’t help but think: “The nigga has come a long way from Gangsta’s Paradise.”
Set primarily in prison and on the run, El Cool Magnifico and Krayzie Bone oscillate between a shots of a prison concert, wylin’ out on the lam, and rhyming through the bars of their lonely adjacent cells. Given the real-life circumstances, I don’t think I even have to tell you how much Coolio looks like a crackhead peeking through them bars.
Did I say “prison concert?” Why yes, I did.
What is this, CB4? This nigga has obviously been watching the last episode of Seinfeld. How did they get women in the prison concert? Why are the vatos shanking each other while there’s some rapping goin’ on? They should be working together! Haven’t they seen “Blood In, Blood Out?” Let me stop. The vato getting shanked looks like he’s enjoying it too much. He couldn’t even hold back his laughter. He knew he was getting shanked in a Coolio video, and it wasn’t 1995.
After a Shawshank Redemption-like tunnel escape from his cell, Coolio mugs the prison guard like a true dope fiend. He chokes him out, shivs him good and takes his smokes. I’m surprised he didn’t take his shoes… and his ass-virginity.
Coolio then proves ruthless and unscrupulous. If the video wasn’t already bad enough, he pulls a GTA on an old man trying to cop a hooker and picks up Anna Nicole Smith before the Trimspa. (I couldn’t make this shit up.) Of course, it’s only a matter of 30 seconds from the time of the carjacking to the time the police converge on Coolio. The former Maad Circle member handles the situation in true WC fashion. I’ve neeeeever seen anyone get away from the cops with a jook and a stiff-arm a la Madden 2000. Coolio is the unanimous selction for the 2005 Ghetto Heisman!
Ironically, after all of this, our hero then gets caught like a deer in headlights sniffing what appears to be 2 enormous bags of cocaine… Okay, I’m just gonna stop writing. This is too fucking ridiculous.
I will say this, though: “I Don’t Wanna Die?” You DEAD, nigga! I got a single for YOUR ass. It’s called “I Don’t Wanna See You Like This!” Coolio should only be doing revue performances of "Fantastic Voyage" and "1,2,3,4." I don’t want to see him on VH1 or “The View” ever again.
The video looks like Coolio and Krayzie Bone fell asleep watching Oz together. With the likelihood that they collaborated over a healthy spliff, this is quite probable. What the fuck would Coolio be in prison for? Trying to steal the rims off of Snoop Dogg's car? Impersonating a recording artist? Is Mystikal in there with them? Though Krayzie delivers a quality verse, as usual, the song itself sounds like a leftover from a 1998 Bone Thugs N Harmony album. Knowing Coolio, perhaps that’s what he was going for.

He said in a recent interview that he ain't put out what he knows he can put out cause he knows he won't get the promotion from the work which is most def true. My job is to review a music video... not the movie it's attached to by the balls.
The video looks like it leads into something of importance to the movie, but this isn't the first video to do something like that. A few years ago, that was the norm in rap soundtrack videos.
I thought Krayzie Bone's verse was solid. But that's my opinion... as you've expressed yours. We're all entitled to one, right?
