  • My first reaction was 'who is Jazze Pha to critique me?' but then I thought about it and realized he doesn't make my kind of tracks anyway.

  • Tyler Durden says...
  • Hits? Yes. That doesn't make it's good rap music though. I didn't say he was wack. I said, "he doesn't make my kind of tracks."

You can compare Wyclef to Will.I.Am.

You can compare Diddy to JD.

But you can't compare Jazze Pha to Premier.

  • why try to diss a MULTI-platinum producer? Second off, i know u'r the beatnuts j-dilla type of boom bapper...if u'r gonna go that route, throw some snythesizer in there...progress your basslines and then add in your sample...

im jus here to learn and build like everyone else..so dont expect no myspace page and if jazze-pha is reading this..which i HIGHLY doubt, congrats and watch out brah..cuz theres a ny producer(hmm) thats comin full force wit blazin hi-hats some arpeggio and some sho' nuff soul!!!

  • Boss_H says...
  • The beat is very beginner to say the least. You don't change up there's no breakdown I understand you don't make Jazze Pha type melody driven beats but, this beat is at best a 2 - 10. It's trash. Now you got potential but THIS PARTICULAR beat is wack.

  • September 2, 2006 12:29 PM
  • Tyler Durden says...
  • "why try to diss a MULTI-platinum producer?"

You guys are funny. If you look back at the past episodes, a majority of you was dissing Swizz Beatz.

Just 'cause a producer is platinum doesn't make him a good producer. Are you saying the guy who produced Laffy Taffy is a good producer? The word 'good' and 'bad' is based on what you consider 'good' and 'bad'.

Furthermore, I didn't dis Jazze. I said, "he doesn't make my kind of beats." Had I known Jazze Pha was the judge, I wouldn't have submitted my track. I know that our styles aren't compatible. Does anyone get what I'm saying?

I'll take what he said and go back to the lab. No big deal.

  • Alias says...
  • The Set is truly a joke do they just try to pick the wackest material they can find and have these Super Producer critique them. I mean don't get me wrong, I have made some wack beats in my life, but I wouldn't pick them to be critiqued. There have been some pretty good tracks on here but overall they have not been on the level they should be. Jazze Pha said it all when he said Amateur. Its one thing to be amateur, but you don't have to sound like one.

  • Pnutbutter says...
  • I didnt like the beat either but wtf is Jazze talking about. You dont need all that equipment to make a hot beat. its not what u have its how u use it.

  • September 2, 2006 05:20 PM
  • Cmagik says...
  • I agree with Pnut...Has Jazzy ever heard of 9th wonder? didnt 9th use fruity loops? yeah he lost points wit dat comment...much respect tho...

    www.myspace.com/cmgk

good producers are allways overlooked or ghost producers for a egotistical producer....

your beat was ok Tyler...but to say its wack? naw...ive heard way worse...but ive heard way better too...its just not an attention grabber feel me? keep grindin fam...much respect....

  • still hating..smh, tyler, i wasn't trying to say your track was wack, it just needed more elements and to pnut or whoever ya is homey, equipment doesnt matter, BUT, keep in mind that 9th runs his fl through probably a wave or diamond bundle mix-down program..and back to toomp referrin to that tr-808, there are VST PLugins to get that warmth, ty keep doin u cause look at DJ danger mouse..

  • I hear what your saying about Jazzy and the reference to the equiptment because I make heat and All I use Is FL , sound forge for samples and the compressers and filters in fl for that Clarity!! Now about that beat, I'm not a negative hater......but that beat was wack though. I mean its all good because every producer makes wack tracks but I wouldn't have submitted that one homey!!! and to say look at dj danger mouse. He is a BEAST nothing like this dude hear. I mean if it had some variation or more instruments then it would be better but I'm sorry it was wack...Just get back to the lab and grind cuzzo!!!

You wanna hear some beats go to myspace.com/feronavi he produces for me and has bangers galore. And to say Jazze has no tracks is you just being stupid cause he wasn't feeling you. He has tracks. You know it.

    make music not beats.

  • September 8, 2006 01:30 PM
  • Jordan Parker says...
  • Durden's beat is better than 99% of other people I hear that I never heard of. It's not my style at all but I will admit that it reminds me of that dmx song "here we go again, same old shit dog just a different day" even though I hate dmx and that was a sick beat. I guess what I'm sayin is that I could see it on a major artists album but I don't think it's beat of the year or nothin.
And as far as Jazze Pha and Swizz Beats....I think theres tons of producers out there that would blow them out of the water if they got into hip hop but make more money doin other things. I mean you don't see Jazze makin soundtracks for movies or nothin. Remember that Puffy is multiplatinum and richer than most people and he doesn't have an ounce of talent in his body. Johnny J who produced for 2pac made how many hits? and I never hear his name come up. Just cuz Jazze Pha is top of the charts don't mean he's all that....remember the macarena took the world by storm and was horrible.

And as far as expensive equipment like he's talkin about...
I got pro tools with reason which cost me around $2500...and I got FL Studio which was like $150 and I prefer FL Studio with my own samples loaded in. I still use pro tools for recording vocals and what not, but for beats I think FL Studio is extremely underrated. I can tell that guttaboy is from the bay area cuz its the only place they try to fit the word "pimpen" into a conversation as much as possible until E40 throws them another bone.
