Hip-Hop and ballroom dancing collide in Take the Lead, opening April 7th everywhere. But you don't have to be a dancer to take the lead -- check out how these teens take the lead in their own lives.

I Set An Example For My Sisters

taketheleadentry.jpgMy name is Jacqueline. I am Mexican American and very proud of where I come from. I try to educate my sisters on how every culture has something wonderful to offer the world. I tell them stories that occur in daily life so that they are not ignorant growing up in society. I want to make my sisters aware of what does exist and how everything can be overcome with love. My friends are genuinly loving people and I think they pour that onto me.

I am the older sister of three amazing young ladies. Each day I focus on living life to the fullest for myself. I find that living life for myself helps me set an example to my three younger sisters. I am currently 18 years old and attend Marymount College. I was born a leader; I lead my friends and family daily. My close friends tell me they look up to me because of the way I put my all into every task I begin.

I am a member of Life Teen at my local parish, and a leader within our individual "small groups". As a Catholic teen, I speak to the group about circumstances that they may find themselves in, and discuss alternative outcomes to help alleviate sticky situations. As time allows me to, I visit the Trinitarians of Mexico in Monte Tabor, Tecate, Mexico. here, I help with the nearby families that need educating in God and are helped to see a better life. I believe that education is the best way to rid ourselves of stereotypes, eventually helping the world become a more loving place to subside in.
