To me, the baseball season has waaaay too many regular season games and it’s just too long, but right in the middle … that All-Star Game just works.
It may even work better than the NBA’s, especially this year with the All-Star Game being held at Yankee Stadium in its last season.
I bring all this up because a week from today is the MLB Midsummer Classic, ya diiiig!
Maaaan, I’ll be trying to catch that Game (unless an order of triiiim comes through).
There are some nice storylines to this game, kid. I mean, there’s teammates A-Rod & Jeter holding down the left side at third and short. I wonder if Madonna will be there.
There’s Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who overcame heavy crack cocaine and alcohol addiction to have an MVP like first half of the season.
If you’re a Cubs or Red Sox fan, you’ll have seven players each to watch, led by Manny Ramirez (Who’s from NY … holla!)
It’s just a good event – top to bottom – with something real at stake: The winning league gets home field advantage in the World Series.
At first I didn’t like that rule, but it makes the game more competitive. Each pitch and at-bat means something more now ya know.
But I ask y’all … WHICH LEAGUE HAS THE BETTER ALL-STAR GAME – THE MLB OR NBA!?
