The other day's news about Spike Lee working on a brand new Michael Jordan documentary sparked some buzz about their Nike commercials being the best. Well, they definitely stand out, but SOHH do a ton of others.
SOHH your boy Ballsy took liberty to share some of his favorite basketball commercials with you (in no particular order). Obviously, there are tons, but here are just a few of the kid's favorites. Let's get it!
Right off the bat, we're going to MJ and Mors Blackman. "It's gotta be the shoes!"
The Showdown ... Bird vs. Jordan, the ultimate game of horse. What's there NOT to like about this commercial? Don't front either because you know damn well you were in the driveway or school park with the homies saying, "Off the backboard, two dribbles, Slick Rick on the eye, nothing but net!"
More present day Jordan (MJ commercials reign supreme) ... this Jordan Failure ad played like a movie trailer. Kinda epic right here. Not afraid to fail, SOHH he could succeed. SUCCESS.
Way before Charles Barkley and Dwyane Wade were acting like clowns for T-Mobile, Sir Charles had this classic and controversial "I am not a role model" commercial. Why is it one of my favorites? It sparked a helluva lot of conversation. Some people blasted Barkley, insisting that he IS a role model. Other actually agreed. I say everyone's mama should be a role model, unless your I dunno, Eminem.
Employ Chris Rock and his distinctive comedic tone and construct a lil' muppet ... and Lil' Penny was born. Props to Freddy P and Joe for reminding me about this one. Before the injuries set it, Penny was that dude. Peep Tyra Banks' cameo.
Aight for all you young'ns ... the Charles Barkley, Dwyane Wade T-Mobile joint. D. Wade finally makes the cut. Him and D. Rose in Miami's backcourt would be sick next year.
I saved the best for last, patna! Gatorade's Be Like Mike is certifiably CLASSIC. This started the legend. Everyone was humming or singing this joint back in the day. Ya gotta love it.

3...2..1 Aaaaaahhhhh Commercial Is Fun Where They Got Random People Shooting Pieces Of Trash Like Buzzard Beaters And At The End Theres A Lil Gal About To Shoot Going "3,2,1" and The Dad Pulls Up And Honks The Horn ( Like The Buzzard Went Off) And At The End Its Funny Cuz If U Pay Attention They Show Them Playing And The Lil Gal Breaks Him Off Then Takes Him To The Whole Lmao...

The Jordan/Mars Blackmon are the best basketball commercials ever and it aint even close. The Lil Penny commercials were 30-second minstrel shows. Penny might as well have been wearing blackface. Truly shameful. The commercials Niike got out right now for the SPARQ Training are alright. "I got a list of demands....."
Oh and I almost forgot: Pack it up Celtic fans. The homecourt you worked for all year went right out the window last night. Now the team that couldn't win a road game at 8th-seeded Atlanta has to win one in Detroit, where the Pistons have lost 7 times this year. Ray Allen finally found his game, Chauncey Billups is playin on one leg and the Celtics still couldn't hold their homecourt? Better break out your RedSox jerseys. Pistons in 6.
