AYOOO! What a finish to the Tournament!
Congrats to Kansas, but Memphis shouldn't have lost that game (and championship) last night! I don't care what anybody says! The Tigers couldn't buy a free throw down the stretch and it cost them a national title. SMH.
The ending was unreal. I still can't believe Kansas won!
I mean, the Jayhawks were down nine with 2:12 left, but Memphis didn't close the show, mostly because of missed free throws. Your boy Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts (CDR) combined to make only one of five foul shots with just over a minute left in the game.
That left the door open for the Jayhawks, who took advantage, when Mario Chalmers hit a clutch-ass MONEY IN THE BANK three with 2.1 left in regulation to force overtime.

"I had a good look at it," Chalmers later told the AP. "When it left my hands it felt like it was good, and it just went in."
The Jayhawks then outscored the Tigers, 12-5 in OT, to clinch the title. Man oh man! Can't believe the way it went down. Be clear that Joey Dorsey scoring a measley six points had a lot to do with Memphis losing too. I could drop six points, homes! On three J's in your mouth like dental cream, two treys or getting to the charity stripe. How you want it!?
I will say, though, not to take anything away from Chalmers, who scored 18 points to win the Most Outstanding Player (Word to M.O.P. - ANTE UP), his teammate Darrell Arthur (20 points, 10 boards) or even Memphis' CDR (game-high 22 points), but none of those cats were the best player on the court last night. That was D. Rose!
Watching the game, it's as clear as the fact that G-Unit's done that D. Rose is ready for the L. Nah, scratch that ... he's built for the L. I think the Kansas kid Sherron Collins did a good job D'ing up Rose in the first half, but nobody could stop dude in the second. I mean, my man scored 14 of his entire squad's 16 points late to put Memphis up by nine.
That's how you put a team on your back, pimpin. Dude's going to have a great career (hopefully as a New York Knick; Me and my wishful thinking).

Best game I have seen in a while since most title games aren't this close. Possibly best ever. Memphis and their Shaq like free throws came back to haunt them.

I gotta disagree and say that Chris Douglas-Roberts was the best player on the court last night. His 13 in the first half was the ONLY thing that kept the game close with Derrick Rose in clamps. Along with the fact that D.Rose only had 1 point in the last 9 minutes of the game including overtime, CDR kept Memphis from gettin killed. Now dont me wrong Rose is my nigga, but Chris scored all of Memphis' overtime points, you ask me both them niggas is top 10 draft picks

The Big-East doesn't need Memphis-STATE, they refused them in 2003 because they bring nothing to the table. Louisville has a '07 BCS Orange bowl, '05 Final Four and '08 Elite Eight, a '08 womens Sweet Sixteen and a '07 College baseball world series appearance. . .Now, what can Memphis-STATE add except a box of rib-tips and a BB-King album??
That was a monumental choke job for the ages. I can't help but remember a few weeks ago when Calapari was getting upset with the media, talkin about he wasn't concerned about his team's free throw shooting. Wonder how concerned he is today. He should have called a timeout after Rose's last made free throw and he should have fouled before Chalmers got that 3 up. Memphis lost on bad coaching and bad freethrow shooting (which is a result of coaching). Straight choke job, congrats to Kansas- they deserved it. The culture of Memphis basketball is that they collect great atheletes and play run and gun, but theres no poise, composure or fundamentals. They will not win a championship.

I wanted Memphis to win....gotta give it to Kansas they hung tough when falling behind...and gotta give it to Bill Self...VERY smart to start fouling at 2 minutes and take advantage of Memphis' achilles heel!!!! I think if Dorsey didn't foul out, Memphis would've still had a chance but they were nothing w/o him. Definitely one of the top 5 championship games.
ima say this.. all people CDR DOUGLASS ROBERTS BLEW THAT GAME.. not by his free throws but by not holding the ball and killing the clock. HE wanted to be the star that put the game away he blew it but being big headed. i dont blame rose because he played the whole game i wished he wou;d haved attacked more in the 1st half. but douglass roberts had been smart and held the ball when he got that pass with what 15 seconds or he dribbled around then go to the line this story would have been different kansas would not had the time to do what they did. im so disappointed in CDR i hope he stays another year to redeem himself and not get killed in the pros. all you high school or college ballers dont be big headed be smart hold the ball hold the game in your hands. and learn how not to drop back on free throws
