The NBA regular season is all over and the opening-round playoff matchups look a little something like this (hit me ... I got it. I got soouul):
EAST
BOS-ATL · DET-PHI · ORL-TOR · CLE-WAS
WEST
LAL-DEN · NO-DAL · SA-PHO · UTA-HOU
And without further adieu ... here are Ballsy's Best of the First Round:
Cavs-Wizards
This is one of my picks for best first-round series just on the strength of their series last year. Do y'all remember that ish? I mean ... Jesus, LeBron going head to head with my main man Gilbert Arenas aka Agent 0 was something to behold. Something tells me the series won't be as good as that, but pretty darn close is good enough. Orlando-Toronto could be close too, but who cares about that? Sorry Canadians.

Let's go out West ... Hornets-Mavericks
Yeeea, now this could be a series. And what I like best about the matchup is that it's a more than legit first-round test for Chris Paul. Peeps, including me are saying Chris Paul is an MVP candidate and the next coming of Jason Kidd. Well, your boy Kidd is still here and CP3 is going to have to get past him to accept the passing of the torch and prove the Hornets are for real. I'm loving this matchup, but take this as a warning: DON'T SLEEP ON THE MAVS! THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE. N.O. (in Borat's voice) ... not SOHH much!
Spurs-Suns
The Suns got Shaq to help deal with the giants out West and provide an inside presence, while letting Amare go wild. Well, here's their chance to prove that the gamble of letting a younger Shawn Marion go was a good move. WITH SHAQ, IS THIS THE SEASON THE SUNS WILL SHOCK THE SPURS OR WILL ISH LIKE THIS HAPPEN!?
Jazz-Rockets
Now, this one between the Jazz and Rockets is a tough one. It can go either way, but I like the Jazz with Deron Williams outside and Carlos Boozer inside. Jazz beat 'em last year too.

geee. i was so so so hoping for my denver nuggets not to play with the lakers in the first round. i can see 4-1 for the lakers and kobe going nuts in all of the games!
the nuggets would have had chance against the hornets but la. are a totaly different animal.
Well you just proved you aint actually watch the playoffs last year, because LeBron didnt go head 2 head with Gil in a great series last year, the Cavs swept the Wiz and Gilbert Caron Butler both missed the entire series due to injury...So maybe watch a game a or this year b4 you post
