We Major Wednesdays: Ballsy's NCAA Tournament MVPs! Who's Your March Madness MVP So Far? Red-Hot Curry! Beasley Declaring For Draft!?

Posted on March 25, 2008 10:52 PM

Ayo, it's your boy Ballsy back at it. Good discussion on Dirk yesterday, but I promised I would return to that March Madness, SOHH heeere we gooo!

My homies and I were talking about the Tournament and arguing about who we would give the MVP to SOHH far. Well, I gave it some thought and entering these Sweet 16 games, here are my NCAA Tournament MVPs:

5. CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE!?
kevin_love.jpg
Big White centers have the tendency to look doofy in the paint, but not Kevin Love. My man's the 2008 Big Smoov (Word to Sam Perkins) and a surefire 10-15-year pro. Watch. He's on my MVP list because let's face it, there were a lot of upsets in the first two rounds and UCLA came close to losing to Texas A&M, but Love's 19 points, 11 boards helped the Bruins keep those Game Big Dreams alive ya diig!?

4. BEAST MODE
Beasley.jpg

Yea, Ok, Mike 'B. Easy' Beasley is out the Tournament, but dude did his thing all year and is still taking over the headlines. His coach, Frank Martin, told the AP:

"I think he's going to go, and I think it's the right thing to do, because he's going to be the top pick in the draft."
Preach! With the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks select Michael Beasley from Kansas State! (Big Dreams ... what you want me to do!?)

3. LOFTY EXPECTATIONS

Tennessee guard Chris Lofton caught a minor leg/ankle injury in doing away with Butler in OT, but the Vols' leading scorer is playing. Yeaaa maan, don't p*ssy out now. The nation is watching! Beside, Tenn. needs Lofton. Peep him at :32 and 1:18 in this clip.

2. LEE'S THE BUSINESS!

CLee1.jpg
SOHH who's the best player in the Tournament that y'all don't know about!? Western Kentucky's Courtney Lee. Fresh off of dropping 29 points on San Diego's heads in round two, Lee is still hungry going into challenge No. 1 UCLA. No doubt that Western Kentucky wouldn't have got this far without him. C. Lee's a boss, boss, boss, bu-boss and you will see him in the L next year.

1. Red-Hot Curry
curry2.jpgcurry.jpg curry3.jpg

eross.jpg
Maan, even though dude looks like Diana Ross' 'alternative-influenced' son, y'all got to admit that Davidson's Stephen Curry has been the face of this year's Tournament. Forget that he looks like he's 10 and still on the titty. Y'all realize just how many brackets this guy has f**ked up!? His pops' Dell Curry was a pretty nice shooter, but his son's ICE COLD, chief! If No. 3 Wisconsin gets caught sleeping ... Curry could be stinking up the house for the Elite 8. It could happen, maan! It could happen!

SOHH WHO'S IS YOUR TOURNAMENT MVP THUS FAR!? HOLLA AT ME!

Your Boy,

SOHH Ballsy

  • stephen curry without a doubt for mvp as of now. No one had Davidson going near this far in the tourney, and stephens been their weapon of mass destruction.

  • wow, everyone watch everyone jump on the bandwagon for Davidson. Their win was a fluke. dude won't even drop 25 points next game, let alone do what he did last game and drop that in a half. Weak! just cuz they won one game, dudes think they know this dude is the answer. he's like the Ryan Leaf of this bracket.

  • Ok in the NCAA tourney there is no MVP, there are the most OUTSTANDING players of each region & then of the final four. But if there was an MVP of the first weekend, that's easy. That would be Dell Curry's son without doubt. The question wasn't what he'll do in the next round against Wisconsin or what kind of pro he'll be. We have seen him as a college player in the 1st & 2nd rounds of the dance, and he just made himself some money last weekend. 70 points in two games, & led an upset of a 2 seed. Nuff said. Michael Beasley's days of playing for tuition are done. Sorry to spoil it, but Cinderella (Davidson, Villanova, Western Kentucky) turns back into a pumpkin this weekend. Final four: UCLA, Stanford, Kansas & North Carolina (maybe.....Roy Williams is having nightmares of Louisville right now). Bruins cut the nets down for the 12th time.

A&M PRETTY MUCH HANDED THEM THE WIN ON A SILVER PLATTER..THEIR COACH SHOULD BE FIRED...I WAS PRETTY IMPRESSED W/ XAVIER'S WIN OVER PURDUE (A GREAT YOUNG TEAM IN THE MAKING)..NEXT YR PURDER WILL MAKE THE SWEET 16..ALL OF THEIR PLAYERS ARE SOPH/FRESHMEN..MEMPHIS DOESNT HAVE A CHANCE AT BEATING MICH STATE..THEY HAVE HAD A WEAK SCHEDULE ALL YR WITH EXCEPTION TO MAYBE 2-3 GAMES..MICH STATE'S DEFENSE WILL SHUT DOWN DERRICK ROSE AND MEMPHIS WILL THEN STRUGGLE..KEEP IN MIND MICH STATE HAVE 4 PLAYERS THAT WILL REEK HAVOC..THE FRESHMAN GUARD LUCAS WILL RACK UP 15-20 PTS GUAREENTEED, RAYMAR MORGAN, GORAN SUTTON AND DREW NEITIZEL WILL DO THEIR PART..W/ NAYMIC (CENTER), AND GRAY (FORWARD) COMING OFF THE BENCH TO MURDER THE BOARDS...TENN VS N. CAROLINA WILL BE A GOOD GAME..DOWN TO THE WIRE GAME BUT TENN WILL BECOME FATIQUED DUE TO N.C'S DEPTH AND SUBMIT...WISCONSIN VS DAVIDSON WILL BE A CLOSE ONE ALSO..WISCONSIN IS A DEFENSIVE POWERHOUSE, AND U COULD SAY THE SAME FOR DAVIDSON ON THE OFFENSIVE END..KANSAS WILL THEN BEAT DAVIDSON TO MAKE IT TO THE FINAL FOUR....BALLSY NEXT TIME GO INTO DETAIL BESIDES WHAT U COPY FORM SPORTS CENTER LOL

  • Kevin Love will suck...he's not smooth....I been tricked before with Andrew Bogut. He's not athetic enough. Honestly, he's fat by NBA standards. He might have a long career. But he will won't be a starter for more than 4-5 years. Kai Lucus is ok, but it easy to look nice when only have to score...Drew Nietzer is still the floor general...The young boy must pay his dues first.

  • Anyone who doesnt respect stephon curry opinion doesn't count AT ALL. If he wasn't so light weight we would be making him a lottery pick.

Real Talk...I would Pick Psyco T. Over K. Love any draft...any day!!!

I WATCHED HIM PLAY IN THE GAME AGAINST WISCONSIN AND THE DUDE IS SICK..HE JUST COULDNT CARRY THE TEAM HIMSELF..IM SURPRISED THEY'VE GOTTEN TO THE TOURNAMENT HONESTLY

haha, you been watchin any games marc? you still run internet on a 56K modem or something and espn.com hasnt updated the brackets yet? Curry is an explosive second half player, and isn't afraid to take on players twice his size (which should be normal for a good player, but you dont see the heart he has very often).

Plus, anyone watching the games see this dudes mom in the stands???!!! Dale Curry's pullin some fine ass tail....

  • ANYONE WHO HAS MICHIGAN STATE IN THE FINAL FOUR IS A SUPERFAN. HATE TO BREAK IT TO YOU, BUT THEY'RE NOT CAPABLE OF BEATING ANYONE LEFT IN THEIR BRACKET, ESPECIALLY WHEN NEITZEL'S JUMPER IS IN A COMA. DERRICK ROSE IS GOING TO EMBARRASS DREW NEITZEL ON NATIONAL TV. I RESPECT TOM IZZO AND ITS USUALLY A BAD MOVE TO BET AGAINST HIS TEAMS IN MARCH, BUT HE JUST DON'T HAVE THE HORSES THIS YEAR. THERES NOBODY IN UCLA'S BRACKET THAT'S GOING TO BEAT THEM. UCLA HAS PLAYED GAMES TO THE WIRE ALL YEAR AND WON ALL OF THEM. THAT'S A VETERAN TEAM WITH 2 STRAIGHT YEARS OF FINAL 4 EXPERIENCE AND AN EQUALIZER IN KEVIN LOVE. THEY KNOW HOW TO WIN. CAROLINA WILL HAVE AN ABSOLUTE WAR WITH LOUISVILLE, AND I GUESS I GIVE THE TARHEELS THE EDGE SINCE THEY'VE BEEN PLAYIN LIKE THE '88 LAKERS LATELY.

  • I love how everybody watches college players and judges them by how their game will translate to the NBA. What's wrong with just being a great college basketball player? Anybody remember Trajen Langdon, Miles Simon, Ed O'bannon, Danny Manning, Mateen Cleaves, Derrick Coleman? The list goes on & on. Any of them ever light The League up? But they were all Legendary college players and in many cases champions. That's not enough huh? We have to nitpick about Stephan Curry's lack of size or Kevin Love's lack of ups? Personally I choose to look at what's happening now instead of prognosticating what a player will be at the next level. I remember Gilbert Arenas being the 5th best player on his high school starting 5 and almost not getting recruited.

  • I'm bein bias and I dont care, da mvp is Ty Lawson, Pscho T, Wayne Ellington, Marcus Ginyard and Deon Thompson. da whole startin lineup!! da best team in da country is UNC, they gone cut down da nets again. Wayne Elly's jumper is wetter than curry's. Curry shot 15 threes and only made 5 of em. da only reason he score some much is cus he shoot so much. dont get me wrong, he can shoot but jus take a picture of Wayne's jumper, its flawless. and then we got da hardest fightin player in da country, psycho-T, he aint gone let dem lose. NC stand up!!

  • March 26, 2008 6:02 PM

  • they gone change da name ta University of
    National
Champions, oh yeah and UCLA aint even that good, they be cheatin, Memphis aint got nobody in they confrence dats why they only lost one game, and Kansas just aint got da fire power or Pycho T. I wanna see UNC vs. Kansas, that would be a great game.

  • March 26, 2008 6:10 PM
  • CURB CHIPPER 46 says...
  • Yeah Carolina is lookin like they plan to wear the nets I can't front. only reason they might have trouble is cuz they forget about defense sometimes, and they got a showdown with Louisville sunday. That game aint a gimmie by a long shot, but ill take the Tarheels in an instant classic game. I see UNC-UCLA for the nati, and the Bruins will take it because our defense NEVER takes a night off, and defense wins championships.

  • Agreed, Curry is definitely doing his thing...Unfortunately it came with a defeat to my Hoyas but that's ok, it's nice to see a young guy elevating his game. P.S. If you know the Knicks luck....you know we won't get the first pick in the draft (still got my fingers crossed tho)

  • March 26, 2008 7:58 PM

  • no no naw, UCLA is good but Carolina is great. UNC may give up alot of points but that is only because they dont spend alot of time wit da ball because they score so quick. UCLA cant do dat, they been havin trouble wit sucky teams and cheated ta dat numba one seed anyway. if u really watched them da last month then you know what I'm talkin bout. Kevin Love wouldnt be able to stop Psycho-T
