Yes, it's your boy back at it. We're going to take a break from football today and chop it up about the NBA MVP race. With All-Star Weekend around the corner, we figured why not spark the debate now!?
SOHH as the first half of the season winds down, right now ... who's your NBA MVP?
Aight, this is the way the kid sees it. Here are my five candidates and why I picked 'em:
Kevin GarnettWHY: The Celtics are a league-best 33-6 right now. KG respectfully keeps calling the Celtics, Paul Pierce's team, but it's Garnett that's averaging a damn-near double-double. Although P2 may still need to be the guy with the rock in his hands during the clutch, KG's the anchor of that squad.
And the fact he already has a Most Valuable P on his arm, doesn't hurt either. By now, y'all should realize any excuse I have to post this pic, I will. (What up, Ron!?) KG - I respect your game on and off the court.
Kobe BryantWHY: Not only are the Lakers hanging right in there with Phoenix in the Pacific (division), but record-wise (27-12) ... they're one of the best teams in the L, period. Kobe's averaging 27 points, five rebounds and five dimes per game.
LeBron JamesWHY: Leading the L in scoring (29.7 ppg) and adding seven boards and seven dimes just to keep his team above .500 (22-18). Yea, dude's valuable. Without him, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Jackie would be dead in the water.
Chris PaulWHY: If you would have told me that the Hornets would be leading the Southwest division over Dallas and San Antonio, I would have told you, I don't believe you, you need more people! Yet, there's the N.O. on top of the division and C.P. is the reason why. 21 points and 10 dimes per game. Yeeea, he's that dude.
Dwight HowardWHY: I'm being generous with Dwight because after their hot start, the Magic's slipping away. Still, dude's a beast with 22 points, 15 boards per game. Dwight Beatz The Monsta!
OK, MY NBA MVP: K-B-2-4, ya diiig!? Listen say what you want - agree with the kid or curse me the hell out - but it is what it is. Kobe's not that selfish guy anymore. He's making his teammates better.
Off the bat, I gotta eliminate C.P., Dwight and Garnett. C.P. because ... let's see how his Hornets finish first. Dwight - the Magic just won't have a unbelievable record and Garnett because dude has too much help with P2 and Ray Allen. That's the same reason I don't have A.I. or 'Melo on my list. Same with Steve Nash. They got peeps to lean on. Still, KG has to be considered if the Celtics win 68-72 games. No doubt.
That leaves Kobe and LeBron on my list. Both are making their teammates better this season. But LeBron has always made his teammates better. Kobe ... not so much, until now. He's elevating everyone's game on that squad. Beside that, the Lakers got a better record than the Cavs. If it's between these two and the Lakers finish with a better record - in the tougher Western Conference - then Kobe gotta be M-V-P. Chuuch! (Pardon the pic with the old number).
KG's shawty's a 10, a 10, but Kobe's wifey ain't too shabby herself!

There really should be an MVP from each conference like in Baseball. The "alpha" mvp being the Finals' MVP.
Kobe is my vote in the west, hands down, team is doing great so far and as long as they dont repeat last year's slump they're a lock for the playoffs.
Honorable Mentions : Stephen Jackson - stop hating, yall know he killin it this year ; Chris Paul - like my man said : 21 and 10 per ; Brandon Roy - of course he's a long shot but he's in here just because he deserves these props, them Blazers be Blazin' ; and my out-of-nowhere pick is Shawn Marion - fuck Nash, half them fast breaks would never even materialize if Marion isnt cleaning glass of playing help defense, on offense he's always hustling, on the glass as usual but always running on the fastbreaks, finishing and poppin that ugly ass three that just goes in somehow. He's got an extra load to carry because Nash couldn't guard Big Pun even if he tried and a lot of their second chances on offense are generated by his hustle, the real MVP, these league officials ( read : white boys worried about the league's image ) robbed Marion of atleast one MVP. Now all these fags sound lame as hell saying shit like, well Nash is having a better season numbers wise than either of his back to back MVP seasons. How in the hell does that make sens unless you're unintentionnaly admitting he shoudn't have gotten one of those, or if you're gay enough to believe he should get it again for a third time.

East :
Clearly the MVP is KG, no doubt. Who cares if he's got help from Pierce and RayRay, they would be a average team without him. Not saying that Allen and Pierce arent critical pieces to their puzzle but ask yourself, who is really the heart and soul of the Celtics? Exactly...
Honorables : Lebron - no clarification needed here ; Joe Johnson - still the man keeping this talented team a dangerous opponent, he's their man on defense and offense, but unless they start having some 50 win seasons, he aint getting no real recognition ; I wanna say Dwight but that would be disrespect to him, yall will understand what I mean in like 2 or 3 seasons, he's a freak of nature who just realized he can score like that, he needs to learn how to pace himself, get used to making the playoffs, that's when they'll be no convo regarding who's MVP, Howard will have literally stopped them all real close to the bucket, knaw mean?

Dude. I am a Lakers fan and i'm not even hating on LeBron. The dude is straight up ballin. 30,8,8 is not something that comes every 10 years. Its something that comes once every 50 years. LeBron is the clear cut MVP of the league. Chris Paul is the MVP of the West. 20-11 with three steals has never been done before.
Kobe is playing mediocre ball, and his team's success has a lot to do with Derek Fisher's leadership and Andrew Bynum's rise to dominance. According to Phil Jackson, Luke Walton, and Lamar Odom, "Derek Fisher is the heart and soul of the team and is the team's leader".
Hate on that all you want, but LeBron James is the best this year, and will be the best for the next 10 years. You Kobum Cryant lovers need to accept it now.
By the way, as a Lakers fan, i'd rather lose Kobe to injury than Andrew Bynum. Why?

Great players can't save their teams every game, but when they don't, they certainly don't hurt their teams. Kobe hurts my Lakers with his horrific shooting.
I'm a wizards fan, and their playin good but that's a team. as far as clear cut, i like what's developin with cp3, i mean to be in first in a division witht the MAVS and SPURS, he's got the HORNETS in it, come on, lj and zo were the last ppl to win there
the hornets in first in that division is like the orioles beating the yankees and red sox, unheard of
KG all day...he does what it takes for is team to win and he's unselfish. He's the best player on the best team in the league, thus he should win the MVP. Plus he's overdue, my dude was wasting away in Minnesota, but know he got some talent around him he's shining...KG is a real dude, give him the got damn award already.

Boston and Cleveland can win without KG and LeBron...Kobe's the better scorer,free throw shooter,defender and percentages are higher+ He got jerked last year for his MVP......Whoever said 30+ only happens every 10 yrs is a damn fool A.I. and Kobe both did it. Lately the mvp has been the best player on the best team (see Dirk/Steve Nash) so with that I'd say Kevin Garnett would get mvp honors...However the season is long and I think if New Orleans wins the Norhwest and is either a 1 or 2 seed out west....Chris Paul deserves the mvp b/c NOBODY really expected them to be where they're at...and it's mostly because of him.
