Bernard Hopkins is Fighting Again, Celtics Ain't Getting 70 Wins

Posted on January 24, 2008 9:47 AM

Bernard Hopkins is baaaack! The 43-year-old Executioner will step back into the ring to face 35-year-old Welsh fighter Joe Calzaghe in Vegas on April 19.

Now, casual boxing fans may be asking themselves, who the f**k is that? Well, here's what you need to know about dude.

bhop.jpg

Calzaghe is 44-0, counting wins over Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler as his notable victories. Dude is tough as nails, basically. He's an aggressive puncher that goes for your head and neck ... and he's moving up to light-heavyweight to face Hopkins. Dude's already talking trash about B-Hop too:

"He definitely needs a facelift and I'm going to sort him out," Calzaghe told the Associated Press on Wednesday. "I just hope he's not going to run. If he comes toe-to-toe, it's going to be a war and hell of a treat for the fans. If he runs, it's going to be frustrating for me and the fans, so it depends how he fights."

I'm gonna keep it funky ... this is a dangerous fight for Hopkins because this dude doesn't back down. But I will say this, Hopkins is always in tip-top shape and he is coming off victories over Winky Wright and Antonio Tarver before that (peep below).

SOHH, is Bernard Hopkins' ass too old to be fighting again!? Think he'll win? I do.

Moving on, the Celtics lost to Toronto last night. They now got seven losses in the season, before the All-Star break. Still think they're getting the 70 wins, son!? Ain't happening.

Flashback Fridays tomorrow!

Peace!

Your Boy,

SOHH Ballsy

  • This should be an interesting fight. This Calzaghe is no Hatton. This guy is for real. If he loses they will say it was all hype but if he wins, they will say Hopkins was too old. He can't win in that aspect of things. I wonder what happened to the propose fight in Yankee Stadium for these two. That would have been great. I say the fight goes to decision.

  • The Pats need to hurry up and win the Super Bowl so I can have a day off for the parade...lol Fuck says...
  • I won't even waste my time discussing Ballsy's infactuation with the city of Boston and all of the recent success the city is having in ALL major sports. (oh yes I will who am I kidding)

There was a time when Boston was in NY's shoes. The Sox were contenders, but never won the big one. The Pats were the laughing stock of the NFL. And the Celts had 1 or 2 big names and a bench full of bums. Hell, the city forgot that the Bruins even played here. Funny how roles have switched. The Jets are at the bottom of the barrel and to be honest the Giants aren't as good as Ballsy would like to think. (it's the NFC people, I really don't give a flying fuck if their in the SB or not) The Knicks.....lol I'll leave that alone. The Yankees have become the Pre '04 Sox, (Mets don't count they're bigger chokers then K. Kardashian) and someone needs to post the Rangers and Islanders on the side of a milk carton they've been missing for so damn long. Ballsy, if you're tired of watching all of the losing that's going on out there, you're more than welcome to come visit and hang out with true champions. You can't stay, but we'll allow you to see how it's done! (we're only three hours away tops....lol)

In regards to the Celts, they won 24 games in total last year, and here the All Star break is approaching and they haven't lost 10 games yet. That is one of the biggest improvements in the league! Let them breathe my nigga.

You know what ain't happening? The Knicks won't see 24 wins by the All Star break ! (ain't happening.....lol)

  • Please nobody wants to be like NY not even NY. Yall lost ya identity. And that's the issue NY'ers hating on anybody else what part of the game is that?! Grow up and stop hating it's deadly.

  • I aint gonna lie i gotta alot of respect for b.hop, he has fought the best, their aint one big name that b.hop hasnt fought but i dont think he beat winky wright, that fight was a draw but as far as calzage goes i think b.hop will win by decision. Calzage is quicker but b.hop is a way more skilled fighter.

  • I'm looking foward to the pavlik vs taylor fight the rematch. If taylor does not get it together, then he can kiss the big times goodbye. Roy Jones show that he still has the fight in him. I was pretty impressed last week against Trindad.

  • B-Hop will have enough juice in his tank to beat the Welschman deciscevely. In fact, Calzaghe looks like Don Flamingo from Punch-Out.

  • Calzeghe is going to find out why they call Hopkins the Excutioner..B Hop did in Oscar with body blow, he made Sloppy Joppy look like Martin when fought Tommy Hearns, the nigga punches hard. I don't think Calzeghe has fought a guy like Hopkins before. He's good but Hopkins is a legend, one of the best ever and still able to dust off punks who talk shit.

There ain't no young heavyweights to carry the torch so might as well watch the old dudes like Roy and Hopkins, especially with Floyd retiring and shit.

The Celtics ain't winning 70 but maybe 64-67 which is pretty fucking impressive considering this is the first season these guys have played together. I expect them to go far and maybe win the whole thing, if KG doesn't get the regular season MVP he'll get the playoff MVP when they beat San Antonio and he finally beats Timmy Duncan, wasn't that commerical with Duncan and Robinson with shaving cream they used to show before the movies the gayest shit ever, I mean really..shit was gay..but I digress..KG and the Celts going to do big things this year and for as long they keep that squad together..Danny Ainge must have sold his soul to the devil cause he came the fuck up, they was about string his ass up and pull this shit out is ass, he should get the hustler of the year award..
