"Dear John" is a hot song. Sounds like Soul Rebel isn't giving Amerie a chance at all. If Beyonce did the same song and sang it the same way, you would be giving her a standing ovation.
The problem with Amerie is two things. She has the hottest songs, but she's a forgettable person. In a day where image speaks louder than good music, Amerie should figure out how to capture the world's attention. The other issue with Amerie is that she was on the same label as Beyonce, a label that Beyonce monopolized. Amerie's second album should have blasted her superstar status, but her bland personality and being on the same label as Beyone has been her demise.
Now, the songs give Amerie a lot potential to become a star in her own right. Unfortunately, L.A. Reid is responsble for the product. Ever since Reid sabotaged Toni Braxton on her More Than A Woman album, he has been one of the worst label heads since.
