Universal Motown invited me out Friday evening for Melanie Fiona's private dinner at Twist over at Phipps and I was thrilled to meet the "Give It To Me Right" singer in person.

They did these really cute placemats with Melanie on them, as you can see she was really excited.

While we waited for our food, Melanie made sure to greet everyone at the table, she was really down to earth and not shy at all about dancing when the music hit her!

I bonded with the Toronto girl (of Guyanese heritage) about Lauryn Hill, Jazmine Sullivan and Jill Scott (a few of her faves). And she told me the video for "Give It To Me Right" is coming soon!

Yep!

Thanks to Terrell Henderson, Travis Nuckles and Syreta Oglesby for having me out. Congratulations on a great event!

Oh -- I also bumped into Melanie in the VIP area of Drake's Atlanta show Saturday night. She came out to support her fellow Toronto artist.

I don't know about y'all but Toronto is kiling the game right now! ATL has some serious competition. And on that note, I'm gonna leave you with one of Melanie's backyard YouTube videos (I'll save the single for a later post, once the video is done for it!)

What do you guys think of Melanie Fiona? She looks a lot like Amerie in the placemat picture they made of her, but in person only looks like herself! Love her voice though -- it's so rich and full!

Is that you standing beside her? You're cute as a button, aren't you? lol

She has a really strong voice. But if she is on Universal...dear God...let's hope she's strong enough to go for content and not just radio spins. Universal sure nuff will mold her into something plastic if she allows it.

I guess...the beat to the song is nice but I would of gave it to a rapper instead of a singer.

As soon as I heard this girl's voice, I looked her up on iTunes and she recorded "Somebody Come Get Me" a few years ago and it's great! I don't think most people know about it - go check it out; it's a hot track and it will tide you over until we get more from this talented and awesome singer!

I also have the track "It Kills Me" and according to my iTunes library I have played it like 25 times! LOL

I love Melanie! Can't wait for "The Bridge!"
