Her talent is undeniable, but in a recent interview with Tavis Smiley, India.Arie reveals how she has struggled to achieve being recognized.
Watch the full interview below, which includes India's powerful rendition of Sade's "Pearls"
Why do you think India has been passed over for so many Grammy's? Are you an India.Arie fan? Which collaboration do you think Tavis was talking about that she did for commercial reasons and wasn't happy with?
I also wanted to share Ne-Yo's latest video "Part of the List"
Is it just me, or does homegirl from the video have an uncanny resemblance to Rihanna? Anybody get a good look at that text message? I guess this one might get continued to the next one, since homegirl from the "Mad" video made an appearance too. How'd you guys like the video? Talk to me y'all!
UPDATE: Gold star to Reese for noting that this video is sposed to precede "Mad".
Ne-Yo premiered the video on People.com today and this is what he had to say about it:
Ne-Yo describes "Part of the List" as a prequel to his last music video for "Mad," which began with the R&B singer receiving a provocative e-mail that causes a lover's spat.
In the new video, which was filmed in Prague, Ne-Yo and an ex-girlfriend reconnect by chance at a record store in the Czech Republic city, where he is vacationing with his current girlfriend. "Old sparks begin to fly," he says. "We wind up having a little rendezvous."
India is talking about Akon. When they did the "I'am not my hair" remix version. Lol. I heard she got some flack from that.
I love India's music I have all of her cd's. She has a wide range of topics. Not just I'm in love, clubs, sex, money, cars, and cheating a lot of the other singers sing about, nothing wrong about that, but India speaks on a lot of things going on in the world, politics, war, poverty. She speaks about encouragement, peace etc.

I am absolutely a India fan and believe she is one of the greatest artist of our time especially when it comes to song writting. Unfortunately she doesn't have "the look" (u know which one I'm talking about)that seems to be needed to get the recognition she deserves, but don't worry India your music will live on long after "the look" has faded as it always does. Those people the are being recognized now based on looks alone will be forgot and so will there music in most cases. You're contributions to music will be recognized in time.

I think the Ne-yo video is supposed to be a flashback before the Mad video. Especially since he died in the Mad video.
