Soulful Singers On The Screen: Brandy Gets New TV Gig, Plus Jamie Foxx's Latest Award Worthy Role?

Move over "Moesha"! Brandy's gotta brand new gig. The singer and her mother Sonja Norwood have teamed up with "Girlfriends" creator Mara Brock Akil for a new CW series.
Faded Youth Blog spotted Brandy out in Century City last week toting scripts and concluded she must be gearing up for her currently untitled Touchstone Television produced sitcom. The show features Brandy as a die-hard New Yorker who moves to Los Angeles to take a job as an entertainment editor.
"It's going to be me playing [a character based on] my life, but it's not going to be me as Brandy," she explained in an interview with MTV News. "It's going to be a totally different person, but with the same challenges that I go through in my life ... being a single mom, raising my child, trying to have a life, trying to have friends and trying to do my own thing."
The series will be co-executive produced by Brandy and her mother Sonja, while the pilot will be penned by Mara Brock Akil.
I was a big fan of "Moesha" and love the Mara Brock Akil shows so hopefully this one will take off for Brandy. Will you guys watch? Talk to me y'all!
Jamie Foxx's film The Soloist hits theaters April 24th and from the looks of it this should be a really good one. Robert Downey co-stars as a L.A. Times writer who meets a talented mentally ill homeless man and forms an unlikely friendship with him. Check out the trailer, it makes me want to go see it:
The movie is based on a true story. Check out the official website www.soloistmovie.com for more information about the film as well as the true story of Steve Lopez and Nathaniel Ayers. Is it too early for me to speculate this one might earn Jamie some award nominations?

Ms. Akil is great, Brandy its been a while but ill def watch!
