Letoya Luckett released the first single off her upcoming Capitol Records follow-up to radio this week. The song "Not Anymore" was penned by Ne-Yo and the Bryan Barber-directed video was shot in Los Angeles last week.
The single is already available for purchase on iTunes. Listen to it below:
What do you think? I really like the message, Letoya is really making that attempt to establish herself as a strong female voice in R&B -- and when I say strong I'm talking about the messages she's sending with not only her lyrics, but also her actions. Letoya was also on the "MC Lyte Zone" blog radio talk show Tuesday for WEEN Radio with a panel that included Tameka Raymond, Lil Mo and host MC Lyte. The ladies discussed domestic violence.
Letoya also recently addressed 99problems.org about tackling our nation's issues:
See? I'm proud of her!
And that other chick from Destiny's Child (just kidding stans) graces the cover of the upcoming issue of Ebony Magazine. I'm including some quotes as well as the amazing images from the magazine.
On the REAL Beyonce:
"I'm a daughter, I'm a friend, I'm a wife, I'm a sister. All those things first. I'm artist. I'm a businesswoman. I'm multifaceted. I'm a lover. I'm inspired by love. I make decisions from the heart."
Describing herself as a wife:
"I don't know how to talk about it because I don't like to talk about it. But I have a great example of a great wife, and that's my mother. And I have great friends around me that have been married, so I'm lucky to have really good examples. And a great husband."
Bey also shared her habits that work Hov's nerves:
"I'm a little messy. Oh, yeah. Whenever I'm out in public, I have to be put together. When I get home, I rebel against it and I don't want to take care of anything. I drop it. I'm relaxed. I don't have any shoes on. No makeup. My purse is in the kitchen. I think that is most difficult thing for him. He's very, very organized. I'm extremely organized when I'm working, and I work so much that when I get home I don't want to think about anything."
As for what Jay-Z does that get on her nerves, Beyonce laughs, "I won't say."
Interesting, I guess, but at least it's something besides Chris Brown and Rihanna. What do you think of the pictures? I love that mermaid dress.
For this week's mix, I'm posting up a set by one of my favorite DJ's and best friends....DJ Center Live From "The Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" Wrap Party, check it out below:
Really?I heard that she met a tall guy on the tall dating site ___Tallmingle.com___,seems it is not a new news there.Maybe it is true, i also saw their hot photos on that site.
Letoya is that chick and has always been my favorite from DC...What you kidding bout Rebel, Beyonce was the other chickk from DC...lol
And she be tripping...How you don't know how to talk about being a wife??? Bitch you just got married and you don't know how to describe how it is as being a wife so far...The fuck outta here...My wife and I have only been married for 5 months and she can go on all day about how it feels...
I love Beyonce and I am glad she is evolving...But LeToya is my girl and it seems that she is really showing how strong and intelligent she is. I so agree with everything she said about education and economy. I hope Obama carries his plans through.
singles hot!! she looks gorgeous on the red carpet! and her issue is true... i wouldnt want my kids to grow up into an economy like the one we have now...
letoya's got hot voice, def gonna check out the album. that 99 problems site for obama's first hundred days was a cool idea, whoever came up w/ that, props to celebs who speak out
i agree with jo pa. i respect any celeb who uses their star power to address important issues of today's society. check out 99problems.org, it looks like a great site for anyone who supports obama.
I wish there were more positive female role models within the entertainment industry like Letoya and Beyonce. With singers like Britney Spears and most recently Rihanna, I feel like young girls need more classy, strong, politically aware women to look up to. But my heart goes out to all these women.
OOoo i agree! its so good to say LeToya back on the map! I can't wait for her new album to come out. What we definitely need are some more intelligent females in the recording industry. go LeToya!
Check out Charles Hamilton's imeem player on his blog. He just made a new song called "New Girlfriend Music" and it samples Case's "Lovely"
