Jennifer Hudson is Back! Her Superbowl National Anthem Performance

Jennifer Hudson made her first televised appearance since her family tragedy to sing the National Anthem for yesterday's Superbowl.
Personally I thought she looked amazing and sounded even better than she looked. In case you missed it I'm posting the performance video:
She also rocked some fierce wedges I was dying to post a close up of, but you know we're not here for the shoes so I decided to leave it alone. There are folks saying she may have lived up to Whitney Houston's incredible version at Superbowl 25.
Personally I think they are too different to compare. They each did the damn thing, plus I have too much respect for Whitney to ever say she's been outdone. What do you think though? Could Jennifer possibly be this generation's true "DIVA"?
Oh and I can't possibly forget to say Congratulations to my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers for their historic sixth Superbowl win! Love you guys!
Congratulations are also in order for Erykah Badu and producer boyfriend Jay Electronica. Badu gave birth to a baby girl Sunday. The couple kept their fans in the loops via Twitter posts.

She's dialated to 8 1/2 centimeters.

I'm really curious to hear what they name her. You never know what kind of names really creative parents will come up with.

Jennifer Hudson did great, nice to see her comeback. Also did Erykah Badu really have to document her whole labor experience, some things can be left out.
Jennifer Hudson did the damn thang! Damn that girl can sing.
Whitney's was classic too. I can't compare the two.
They both were great.
Looked like Jennifer had to really compose herself out there (it was in her eyes), but she did a wonderful job.
Has one of the best voices of our generation.
Jennifer sang the hell outta that song! You're right... the two renditions don't compare. But, Whitney and Marvin's stand above the rest because they were the first to really do it soulfully and EFFORTLESSLY. Everyone who came later was trying to live up to the bar they set. But, it was great to see JHud back. Spotlight was the hottest song of 2008. She is destined to add Grammys to her Oscar. God bless her!

Jennifer did the damn thing.. There are mainstream media outlets saying that she lip-synched the whole thing...WTF ever..They just hating....I would have to say she did a better job then Whitney..Just my opinion..Jennifer exemplifies the true meaning of DIVA...And she didn't even have to put out a song about it....People automatically treat her as such, and she knows that she is a true Diva...
So now Erykay Badu has 3 industry babby Daddy's...Is that really something to congradulate somebody on?????? I personally think it's disgusting and makes her look like an industry whore...But you know what people in the industry and say.."Well at least she got prego by an industry nigga"!!! That sounds so stupid, and goes to show how people in the industry think they are above the rest...Erykah, I still love your music, but lost a lot of respect for you...You are truly not what I envisioned when you first hit the scene..

She did lip synch the performance but it was her own pre-recorded vocals. Apparently all Superbowl Nat'l Anthems are pre-recorded to avoid any technical problems that may arise on the spot. You can't blame her for their policy!!!

Beyonce can't hold a candle to Jennifer Hudson vocally! C'mon. Jennifer Hudson shut Beyonce down when they performed together at the Grammy's and sang Beyonce's song!
Hands down Jennifer Hudson can sang. If she sang to her own pre-recorded track, so what, it's still her vocals.

Yes, definitely glad to see Jennifer getting out and being able to at least surpress some of those painful memories to share her talent and time with us. Also, yes Jennifer Hudson AND Faith Hill both lip synced at the Super Bowl (I noticed it while she was singing). Just to concur with SOHH Rebel, they do pre-record the performances so they can lip sync to avoid any technical issues. Jennifer and Faith were not lip syncing SOMEONE ELSE'S vocals....they were their own. So she still sang the song, just not live. Whitney did the same thing when she sang it. Jennifer ROCKED it and did a great job!! WAY TO GO JENN! :-)
It was good. I dont know if I will label her "the voice of our generation" after one performance, one that was pre-recorded at that. She is too inconsistent live. I saw her perform the Anthem at an previous sporting event as well as the Democratic Convention, her voice was all over the place. Which makes me glad this one was pre-recorded.

They never performed at the Grammys together. I believe your referring to the Academy Awards. They sung each others songs. And once again, her voice was all over the place. If screeching and hollering over the person your doing a duet with means shutting them down, they yes I guess she "shut her down". Luv Jenny, but she lacks something her contemporary has......and thats great vocal control.

These people signing in as J. Hud are really sad. Do these Beyonce fans really believe that this girl never lip syncs or uses a backing track? You are mentally deranged if you do. You need to get a life. Let Jennifer do Jennifer and Beyonce do Beyonce. It goes for both sides. If Beyonce is as good and perfect as her fans want her to be, then she has nothing to worry about. Hudson's performance (lip-synched or not) was one of the best parts of the Super Bowl -- second to the ads of course
