Etta 'Apologizes,' Is Beyonce Beef Over? Plus, New 1 Hour Mix From Strictly Social!

After giving Beyonce the Lil Kim/Naturi Naughton treatment, Etta James is now saying her comments about Bey's inaugural performance were just a joke to entertain the crowd.
James spoke to the Daily News about the Seattle incident:
"I didn't really mean anything," James said. "Even as a little child, I've always had that comedian kind of attitude. ... That's probably what went into it."
James did admit a little envy over not being asked to perform for Obama's first dance with his wife on inauguration night, saying she was "feeling left out of something that was basically mine, that I had done every time you look around."
And while she liked Beyoncé's performance, when asked if she thought she could have done better, James answered, "I think so. That's a shame to say that."
James said Thursday she kept going because the crowd was laughing so hard,
"Nobody was getting mad at me in Seattle. They were all laughing, and it was funny," adding that the jokes were "not from a vicious place."

The ladies from "The View" even weighed in on the topic yesterday, prior to Etta's explanation.
By the way Whoopi, no need to be jealous of Fantasia -- there's no argument there over who is the better actress!

I don't know if I believe this to be a sincere apology. If you heard the audio clip when Etta was speaking her mind, it sounded pretty bitter to me. I do think that maybe she should have thought a little more before she spoke, given that there was a movie out about her and that is homage being paid. In my opinion, she meant every word of it and just got so much flack for her lack of tact that her son and publicist probably made her apologize. That's just my opinion. Etta you are too old for this foolishness. Where is your maturity? Beyonce has been nothing but respectful to this woman. There is no real fued cause Beyonce never responded back and probably never will. Etta should be happy that she was re-introduced to a new generation. Lets be honest most of this generation didnt know who Etta James was before they heard Beyonce would be playing her in a movie. Hell...my 40 something year old mother had to be reminded who she was.
And technically, "At Last" aint her song to be getting angry over. Etta's version of the song is just the most known. Nate King Cole recorded a version of the song in 1957, Etta's version didnt debut till 1961. Whats really funny is Beyonce plans to perform it on her World Tour. So not only will she STILL be performing it around the world but she will be making money off it. LOL!
First she lost a little respect for going after Beyonce in an immature matter. Now she lose even more respect for taking it all back and saying it was a joke. I mean come on are you kidding me ? I didn't want to to say this but Etta James needs to sit her old ass down somewhere.
