Will Jennifer Hudson Be Back to Work In Time For the Inauguration? Is Rihanna Ready to Headline? Plus The '08 Recap Mix From Mick Boogie

OSCAR winner and former "American Idol" star Jennifer Hudson has not performed since the brutal murders of her mother, sister and nephew in October - but the New York Post is reporting she is being wooed for the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
"Organizers want Jennifer to sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the Inauguration on Jan. 20," a source tells the Post. "They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama supporter."
Hudson sang the national anthem at the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August. During the campaign Obama also mentioned Hudson as one of his favorite artists. He also reached out to her after hearing news of the murders.
Obviously there is no "appropriate" length of time to mourn your love ones, particularly when they die so tragically, but I really don't see Jennifer missing this one.

Add Rihanna to the list of celebs who'll be partaking in inauguration-related events. RihRih is headlining the Recording Industry Association of America's Presidential Inauguration Charity Ball on January 20. The ball will benefit Feeding America.
"We are thrilled to have Rihanna's participation in the inauguration charity ball," Vicky Escarra of Feeding America told Access Hollywood. "We are most grateful to Rihanna and to RIAA for helping us bring greater visibility to this tragic reality and helping us feed millions more people in need."
First the Pepsi Smash Super Bowl concert, now the RIAA's charity ball -- Rihanna has no trouble booking jobs during special events but seems like nobody thinks she's ready for the main stage. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride??? I wonder what it will take for Rihanna to start getting those major act gigs. More singing lessons maybe?
I want your feedback!!! It's a New Year and I want to make sure I'm giving you what you want. What artists do you want to see more of? How often do you like to hear some old school R&B? I'm just glad that Beyonce's ass will not be performing...I can't escape that bitch for the world...She would of mad the inauration look bad anyway...
@Rebel....."Feeback" is so fucking lame.... That's why the album fucking failed...That was the only single to push the album... Not to mention you can barely understand WTF Janet was singing...The chorus sounds like she saying "I Want To Be Bad, Be Bad"!!! Then on top of that, she sounds like she trying to sound more sexy then anything...She doesn't even sound like she was singing....When I first heard it, I thought it was Britney Spears singing..Real Talk...Cause the song is just Britney's style...Then when I heard Miss. Jackson was singing it, I was like..."OMG, it can't be"...But sure nuff it was....What happened to the Soulful Janet that we liked????? Her last bonified album that was worth paying for was "Velvet Rope", and that has been more then a fucking decade ago....Her career has been a wrap for so long...We like old R&B stuff, but not the new Janet....Save that shit for the Soulja Boy type fans....Real Talk!

What I want to see in 09 is more posts about up and coming talents such Rock City *who wrote fantasia's album*, Lil Eddie *who wrote mad joints for the industry Usher, Paula Abdul etc...*, Novel *talent is OFF THE WALL*, Taio Cruz *UK's Finest*.
I could go on for days but that's just a few off the top.
@Clo-Fresh
Janet is a legend first and foremost. Now granted her last two cd's haven't done well accorindly to the standard she set, but her career a wrap....... Nah. Janet needs to go back to the formula that made her Janet. I think she has made some mis steps career wise, but I think she realizes that now as well. Feedback was a hot single and a hot video in my opinion, but that's what it is, an opinion.
Janet has to much talent for her not to be able to bounce back if she chooses to. Hell, look at Mariah, Mary J. Blige, etc........
And nobody really did numbers in 08 and from what I have looked up, Janet has outsold a lot of artists that came out n 08.
I agree with you about Beyonce. I will be glad when she is a wrap. She's a carbon copy of Janet & Tina.
@TheCarter78....What you said about Janet is exactly right....But she need to stop listening to them fucking label heads and just do a real fucking JJ album....Janet is a legend, but please don't compare her to Mariah and Mary CURRENTLY cause...They still sing from their gut and let their souls take over when putting it down... Janet has gotten real lazy far ass singin...Case in Point....Mary & Mariah can still BLOW....Janet has lost that. Or did she even ever have it...I really don't remember Janet so called BLOWING or SANG...She is reduced too trying to sound sexy on a beat..And even her beats have gotten more poppish then soulful....That's why she started goingn out with JD...Real Talk.... She has never in her life dated dark skinned, crusty hood lookin type dudes...She has always dated them fair skinned Rico Suave type mu'fuckas....Once she started to see her career in a bind, she took the first nigga in Hip-Hop that showed her some interest to hopefully spur back her career....They will be over by the end of 09....
Soul Rebel, those were some pretty harsh comments about Rihanna. She's headlining the RIAA event and the Pepsi Smash, yet you consider that being the bridesmaid. Your fangs are showing. I would say she's the bride in both cases.
strong playlist rebel, i will be bumpin that this weekend....i think in the new year you should focus on giving us more exclusives (interviews, songs, etc.) to seperate u from the rest of the blogosphere. I think if u focus on that itll keep this site less stale. I also think u should introduce us to artists who can actually sing, are innovative and have sum type talent besides a "mean swag", if thats not asking much. And lastly i just wanna congratulate u on a successful yr and hope '09 is even more successful for u...this is still the only real music blog i go on
