Soul Rebel's Top 8 in 2008: Albums - Songs - Artists - Videos

Okay so I finally yielded to the pressure and decided to to post a Top 8 in '08 before 2009 officially begins. I'd hate to be conventional so it's not in any particular order and I'm not even sticking to any particular category -- songs, albums, artists and videos will all be on the same list of 8.
1. Santogold was definitely one of my favorite artists to come out of 2008, her album was one of the very few that I could play beginning to end and did so over and over again.
2. Estelle's album Shine I loved loved loved it and her.
3. Ne-Yo "Miss Independent"
You gotta love the "Boomerang" borrowing video and the inspiring lyrics. Even in the New Year I'll be a "Miss Independent".
4. Al Green Lay It Down- If you slept on Al Green's latest album this year you truly missed out. Take my word for it and get your late pass by copping it in '09. You won't regret it.
5. Beyonce's Fosse inspired "Single Ladies" video
So much fun, and she actually brought back the unitard!
6. I'd be remiss if I didn't put Rihanna on this list. It wasn't just her ability to chart so many singles -- it was that haircut, those clothes, the tattoos, the attitude. Shawty is bad.
7. While she's not new to many of you, Jazmine Sullivan deserves the best new artist award from most of the world. Her Fearless album lived up to the title. I can't wait to see what she does in '09.
8. While I genuinely hope that the reign of Autotune ends in '08, I can't deny that T-Pain was the man this year. He obviously worked hard to get where he got so I can't hate.
Bonus: This song came out in '07 but I been blasting it all year so I couldn't resist adding it to the list.

3. adele- the entire 19 album
2. kanye west- the whole 808's & heartbreak cuz its getting me through the bad days
1. And dammit the entire M.I.A album cause i was still bumpin that this year (yes rebel, i know ull luv 'paper planes' for ever and always)
LOVE Estelles entire CD. didnt get the memo that Santagold had a full album out, must cop IMMEDIATELY! still on the bench about buying any entire Ne-Yo album but the remix to Ms Independent, didnt get as much airplay as it shoudlve, at least in Fla. Love J. Sullivan. still havent bought any of Rihannas full albums. but she is BAD!
