What kind of f*ckery is this??? I got an email yesterday saying Amy Winehouse recently tried to commit suicide and I almost replied back - AGAIN? Then it hit me that most people wouldn't consider all those hospitalizations and supposed bouts with exhaustion (overdoses?) to be attempts on her own life, but let's be real about it. The child has been crying out for help for two years now. I know I've written at least four Crazy Amy news stories and who knows how many blogs about the woman.

From UK's Daily Star: Earlier this week Amy threatened to kill herself in front of friends. According to a source, Amy held the knife to her chest in front of her friends and said: "What is the point of living?" The source also said: "Amy said she was 'caught up in a nightmare'. Her friends managed to get the knife away from her but are now holding a 24-hour watch on her. Here's a few more quotes from her "friends": "Amy has a death wish. Her emotions are exaggerated. She is either high as a kite or, when she hears something she doesn't like, she's suicidal." "She is all for this stupid Sid Vicious notion of dying young. She is not scared of it and believes it's her destiny." Please Don't Die Amy!

As much as some of you hate her (yes, I have noticed) I really think the woman is worth saving. We have enough sad dead artistic genius stories -- although genius might be a bit of a stretch for Amy -- but despite her obvious death wish, Amy you should know that the world needs you. A few reasons why below:

5 Reasons We Really Don't Want Amy Winehouse to Die

She's A Real "Maverick"

You've got to admit, homegirl has got a style all her own! Amy didn't run out to get the latest Rihanna shag or that bob everyone else seems to have -- she has practically reinvented the beehive and absolutely no one would rock the outfits she does the way she does. It's not always a good look, but at least she's blazing her own trail. Oops, bad choice of words.

She Makes Bobby Brown (And Some Other Folks) Look Like Shining Examples of Sobriety

Amy, Mary J. Blige thanks you. Before you came along, people still remembered when she used to be wild and out of control. But now that you're making headlines every week, she's a shining example of what a hard working clean R&B singer should be. Mary's probably not even the best example. Shoot, it's sad when you can say that Amy Winehouse gets the person who should really thank Amy is DMX, because she has to be the only other person on the planet that gets caught acting cracked out more than he does.

She's no good, and she'll tell you herself!

She's Living Proof That White People Do Crack

Just her mere existence makes it possible to refute all those stereotypes that only black people do crack, while white people are just "harmlessly experimenting" with cocaine. As bad as I'm sure it sounds I know there are a few other folks of color who are relieved to know that drug addiction and criminal behavior are not exclusive to communities of color. I guess in a way Amy is like a symbol of the universal nature of humankind -- or crackhead kind anyway.

She Makes A Great Collabo/Hip-Hop Sample

Just yesterday I listened to B.O.B. ft. Amy Winehouse "Grip Your Body" about ten times in a row. I love the combination of Amy's voice with hip-hop. She makes a hot song. That much is undeniable. Amy Winehouse has a lot of great music left in her and some of it is hip-hop music. It would be a shame for all that good future music to go unheard

She's Got A Mouth Like A Rapper

Nevermind that she had a song (a pretty effin great one at that) on her Frank album called "F*ck Me Pumps," have you heard the lyrics on "Back to Black?" I almost choked the first time I heard her sing "I kept your d*ck wet". That's not even everything. When will "what kind of f*ckery is this?" ever get old? Aside from R. Kelly, you'd be hard pressed to find more raunch on an R&B album anywhere else.

Do you think Amy is right and she's destined to die young?

I have a real treat for the Prince fans this week.  My boy DJ Jaycee (www.bobloisland.com or www.myspace.com/djjaycee) put together this mix called "The Lake Minnetonka Suite Vol. 1" that I posted below.  Please enjoy the music.
