The drought is over. Beyoncé laid in the cut for a little while, but prepare for the full court press in advance of her currently untitled third album, due out November 18th via Music World/Columbia. Just today a lil birdie left me a treat in my inbox and you know I'm always nice enough to share with you. There is no guarantee this is from the new album, but I'm digging the sound of Beyoncé over live guitar.
Beyoncé "Stop Sign"
There is already plenty of talk about the album, so far it's been revealed that it will feature Justin Timberlake. Sean Garrett has also revealed that he's been working with B. and there are currently plans to release two songs "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies" which will be released on October 7th according to the label. The New York Post has reported that Beyoncé donned a police officer's uniform, complete with taser and handcuffs, at the video shoot for "If I Were A Boy" which is being shot this week. Yesterday's shots were captured in Harlem on West 119th St. near Lenox by director Jake Nava. I really have only two thoughts on all this new info 1) Didn't Ciara already make a song about being a boy? And 2) Untitled is a big improvement over Virtuoso Intellect.
I forgot to mention that Beyoncé's song "Beautiful Nightmare," which leaked earlier in the year and may or may not be on the new album, was produced by Jim Jonsin. I LOVE Jim Jonsin to death (have interviewed him for this site before) but I have to say I never quite caught the fever for one of the groups he signed Pretty Ricky – even to the point that I have no idea what any of those guys names were. After B2K broke up I just couldn't pay any little boy groups any more attention (just jokes, sorta). Anyway one of the Pretty Ricky boys, Pleasure P is doing his solo thing and he just dropped a video for his single "I Did You Wrong".
Surprisingly I like it. I had no idea there were any decent looking members of Pretty Ricky. Any fans of "The Wire" in here? How good is it to see Wallace walking around in an R&B video? I think I am more excited about that than watching Pleasure P. Pleasure P's debut album INTRODUCING MARCUS COOPER will be in stores January 2009. http://www.myspace.com/pleasurepmyspace for more info.
Not feeling the Beyonce joint. Lauryn already did this and better. Hope she comes harder than this.
I really like and feeling that song by Pleasur P. I really hope this gets some radio spins. It's different and very relevant to every single body. He has a quality voice and displays the true meaning of singing. He didn't auto tune this song, and this song is for the women and the fella's can feel and relate to this as well. I must admit, I expected some type of raunchy ass song with sexually intensed lyrics, but to my dismay, it was quite a piece of work. He took me back to the early to mid ninety's where all of the R&B singers were on this tip of real music. He didn't take the R.Kelly, The Dream, or T-Pain route. Ya boy is actually singing from the heart. Which a lot of today' R&B singers lack.
