Well I got suckered into watching the VMA's last night. It was a big disappointment as usual – particularly that weird guy they had hosting and all the Britney pity awards (does she really deserve 3 VMA's???) but the biggest surprise of the night to me was Kanye West's decision to perform his new song "Love Lockdown" – if he wasn't a pop artist before he's definitely one now.  Kanye's a singer guys.   Watch below:

Uh, keep your day job bro.  You think he can pull off a whole album of singing? Andre 3000 did it – but he doesn't have an ego the size of Antarctica.

Despite my disappointment, I still have to give some props to the network for putting Travis Barker on stage for much of the show – he added that much needed extra something to performances from Katy Perry, Lupe Fiasco and LL Cool J.  Christina Aguilera also did the damn thing (go head Mama C).

I already put the word out awhile ago that Miss Cassie was a no-show for Ryan Leslie's Addicted video, and the final product reveals that indeed there is no trace of the Bad Girl.  Why do you think that is? I say Diddy wouldn't sign her permission slip… Check out the video:

Personally with those beautiful high fashion black models (Jeneil Williams, Tia Shipman, Gaye McDonald, Honorine Uwera, Jessi M'Bengue) I don't think she was missed anyway.

On Friday 15 of the hottest female r&b and pop artists performed their cancer awareness collaboration "Just Stand Up" for the "Stand Up For Cancer" program.  Their performance was broadcast into the show from the Fashion Rocks! taping that was going on at the same time. Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood all hit the stage.  Check out the video below.

Fashion Rocks! airs this Tuesday 9/9 – I've seen some great photos from the taping and can't wait to see the show.  I'm probably most looking forward to seeing Beyoncé's Etta James tribute and Rihanna's performance (her costume looks HOT).

More from me later… Happy Monday!

kanye is tryin to establish rappers as "artists" in the wake of the oasis-Jay-Z thing. plus, ever since he came into the game, he's been doing very different things musically, unlike these other bandwagoners

I don't know what you're talkin' about homie...but Kanye is always setting the bar high...more than i can say for these other muthaf*ckas...i thought his performance was one of the best last night...his set wasn't over the top, and that love lockdown cut is going to be a a hit...

WTF ARE YOUASSHOLES SERIOUS????-KANYE'S PERFORMANCE WAS THE BIGGEST DISAPOINTMENT TO HIP HOP SINCE J-KWON- I HATED THE PERFORMANCE AND HE LOST ALOT OF CREDIBILITY IN MY BOOK.
HOW THE FUCK IS HE SETTING A BAR? DOING WHAT ANDRE 3000 ALLREADY DONE???? THIS ISNT HIP HOP AT ALL AND LOVE LOCKDOWN NEED TO BE LOCKED UP!!!

CRABS IN A BARREL. we as black ppl hate change so much unless it's lil wayne or jezzy doing things different like rocking wit kid rock or (phoning home).lol. 3000 yes did some singing...so!!!That Kanye song to me was great and if you can't respect it and what hip-hop is envoling to then go ahead and keep being lead by the blind
