In other R&B news, Rihanna is preparing to launch her own clothing line. According to WWD (Women's Wear Daily) expect a fashion collection from the superstar in the future - although at this point, don't try to pin down an exact date from Rihanna. "I'm not one to rush into anything. I want to take my time," Rihanna was quoted. "I can't say when it will be released, but it's definitely going to happen."
Rihanna is also the face of Gucci's first ad campaign for their collaboration with UNICEF. Earlier this summer Gucci designer Frida Giannini made the announcement about the ads by giving Rihanna a huge compliment, saying "When we decided to dedicate a full ad campaign, more than just creating products, to really come out and show our commitment to UNICEF, we wanted someone with a strong personality. I felt a musician and a beautiful woman was the perfect icon for this campaign."
Called "Tattoo Heart," the ads show Rihanna sporting Gucci's special-edition products for UNICEF, which all feature a tattoo-style heart motif and from which 25 percent of sales will be donated to the organization that fights for children's rights globally the ads should be in magazines by their December issues.
What do you think Rihanna's line will look like? I'm not that thrilled with House of Dereon, although I have a really cute Grecian style tunic from the line. I do love Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. line though - I think Rihanna could easily do something like that since her style is along similar lines.
Chris Brown is also doing the fashion thing, having just launched his own line of underwear called Big Headed. Apparently the key feature of Big Headed Boxers is they are made to not rise up, allowing you to let loose and enjoy yourself. Interesting. I wonder how long it will take him to do some product placement for this one - maybe he can make a video wearing them while he sings a single promoting them, a la his Doublemint shill which was disguised as the hit song "Forever".
Have a great weekend!
