Her album leaked online last week, but now J-Hud herself has been spilling details about what she calls the "biggest surprise" of her life, her 27th birthday beach date with boyfriend David Otunga that ended with his proposal. Check out the details below.
"It was a big deal..." Hudson told OK! Magazine. "I got a beautiful ring and I got him. I had no clue at all..."
Apparently Ortunga (aka "Punk" aka "New York" of "Flavor of Love" fame's castoff) made Jennifer put in a little work in order to get to his proposition.
"We went to the beach during the day and he blindfolded me and he gave me a purple shovel, because purple's my favourite colour," Jennifer explained. "I had to dig I ended up digging through all this sand. When I found it, it was like a bunch of beautiful cards... one related to the other, and the last one said, 'Look around, take the moment in, turn around and I have a gift for you.'"
Jennifer Hudson Performing "Spotlight" on Jay Leno Friday 9/26
Hudson showed off her engagement ring on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" Friday, adding that her fiancee is "a beautiful guy" and bragging, "He's an attorney, he went to Harvard Law School."
Absolutely no hate intended when I say I WORRY FOR THAT GIRL. I really do! Plus, if she's as confused about her identity as her CD seems to say, that marriage could be in serious trouble. For those who haven't heard the album yet, be forewarned that it's all over the place. While her vocals are always good, the content is a smorgasbord of genres and all of the guest appearances don't necessarily make for welcome ones (uh who invited T-Pain?).
But if you disagree, please feel free to chime in here.
I might not be so happy about J-Hud switching it up so much, but one girl I was overjoyed to see in a couple new outfits was Janelle Monáe, who donned something other than her signature white blouse, black tie, black and white saddle shoes for her video "Many Moons." Of course her stage persona still kept on the familiar 'fit, but several of the Monae clones in the video were creative enough to try a few new colors and hairstyles. And of course - Monae never being shy about letting her brilliance shine, came up with a refreshingly different kind of video. Check it out below:

I'm not sure how popular it will be on BET and MTV, but who cares - you know I'm gonna give it plenty of play in Songs I Can't Get Out of My Head. What do you think about Janelle's Auction-Meets-Concert-Meets-Runway show theme for "Many Moons."
