Just as I predicted earlier this week Jennifer Hudson sang the hell out of the national anthem at this year's historic Democratic National Convention. If you missed it in all the excitement over Obama's speech I have it for you here. Check it out:
Amazing. I love her hair like that too.
Another one of my favorite artists is also making some serious moves. On the heels of the release of Metropolis: The Chase Suite (Special Edition) Janelle Monáe has kicked off a partnership with Zune Marketplace that will give her fans access to some very special content. In addition to an exclusive live version of her single "Violet Stars Happy Hunting" fans can also access Janelle's track-by-track breakdown of Metropolis in her own words. Zune is also offering a Janelle Monáe Zune Guestlist which features songs she's selected as well as material from musical influences like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Bjork, Buddy Holly and Judy Garland.
Zune also taped an interview with Janelle at NY's Central Park Summerstage which will air as part of their "Green Room" series on Zune Marketplace. The series launches in early September, and features one-on-one backstage interviews with some of music's hottest artists. Here's a clip from Janelle's upcoming "Green Room"episode.

I posted the audio a few weeks ago, but I wanted to give you guys a look at the video from Solange's appearance on Lip Service. If you don't already know about that show, be forewarned, it can get a little racy. Solange does her fair share of cussing in the clip below, where she discusses how getting divorced changed her and how nothing can come between her and her sister.
