Usher, Nelly, Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne and Mariah Carey are scheduled to perform at this year's BET Awards, June 24 at L.A's Shrine Auditorium.
T-Pain leads this year's BET Award nominations, with five nods. I think T-Pain is a bonified hitmaker but it strikes me as odd that he would lead this years nominations. Am I being a music snob?
The awards will also honor Al Green with a lifetime achievement award and Quincy Jones will receive an award for his humanitarian work.
I know I haven't done a ton of posts about jazz artists but Esperanza Spalding will be performing "Precious" on David Letterman tonight -- so I wanted to encourage folks to tune in. If you aren't already familiar with Esperanza -- she is a 23-year-old singer and acoustic bass player who graduated from Berklee College of Music and has played with Patti Austin, Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock. "Precious" is her first single from her album ESPERANZA which was released on May 20th. The Late Show with David Letterman airs at 11:30 PM on CBS.
