Usher, Nelly, Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne and Mariah Carey are scheduled to perform at this year's BET Awards, June 24 at L.A's Shrine Auditorium.
T-Pain leads this year's BET Award nominations, with five nods. I think T-Pain is a bonified hitmaker but it strikes me as odd that he would lead this years nominations. Am I being a music snob?
The awards will also honor Al Green with a lifetime achievement award and Quincy Jones will receive an award for his humanitarian work.

I know I haven't done a ton of posts about jazz artists but Esperanza Spalding will be performing "Precious" on David Letterman tonight -- so I wanted to encourage folks to tune in. If you aren't already familiar with Esperanza -- she is a 23-year-old singer and acoustic bass player who graduated from Berklee College of Music and has played with Patti Austin, Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock. "Precious" is her first single from her album ESPERANZA which was released on May 20th. The Late Show with David Letterman airs at 11:30 PM on CBS.

I heard that Beyonce will be Usher's guest as well, it'll be hot but I wish they had a better song to sing. That Part 2 is just whack and NOT sexy at all. Alicia Keys always gets my vote, thats my wife and her album is so good. She will be performing as well Rebel so look out for it. Chris Brown don't need to perform at all, he sucks.
wow thanks for the Jazz info on Esperanza . I took a jazz appreciation class in college and was blown away by its lush history and impact on music. Hip Hop would not be here today without. I will make a note to watch letterman..before I hit the cool side of the pillow. peace
For video of the year.. it's between Kanye and Ashanti. They both delivered with their videos and did something different. I love Pimp C but I don't think him and Bun B should win Video of the Year just because he died.

As many hits Tpain was on, he went virtually un-noticed by the mainstream awards shows. I think he deserves the acknowledgements, but not to win all awards, there was a lot of competition this year.
