I recently had the chance to interview songwriter/producer Kerry "Krucial" Brothers, who most of you know from his work with Alicia Keys. He's currently stepping his game up, working on new music with a slew of other artists including Goapele, T.I., Res, Anthony Hamilton, Robert Randolph and Brandy. Here's what he had to say:
"We just finished a great record on Anthony that will be on his album. It’s called “Right Before My Eyes.” I’ve wanted to work with him for years. Getting him in the studio and vibing, he was like “I feel like I worked with you before.’ I was like ‘ Man I feel the same.’ I’ve been lucky getting in studio with like minds, it’s been no problem."
Robert Randolph & The Family Band performing "Homecoming" for the HDNet concert
"With Robert same thing, he doesn’t even do R&B, his whole style is different. He was telling me 'Everyone thinks I’m from the country but I’m from Newark, NJ.' He came by the studio and pulled out his steel guitar and I jumped on the MPC. The first couple hours we just vibed. We really got along, we are like cousins now. I’ve been really fortunate dealing with people who are easy to work with and our styles mesh so we come up with a lot of incredible music together, I’m really excited about that. it challenges me and shows people I just do music in general."
"I’m just starting with Brandy. I can’t give too much details yet but I can tell you she is really coming with it with this album, it’s definitely going to broaden her horizons. She is coming in a whole new direction, she is ready to show people where she’s at. She’s doing definitely what people are used to her doing, but definitely stepping it up too. We are just getting started, but we always do our best to make sure whatever we do is definitely hot and quality. She’s excited I’m excited. That’s all I can say for right now."
I'll post the details from my interview with Mint Condition singer Stokely Williams later this afternoon. I can tell you now that their new album E-Life will be released next Tuesday (aka my birthday) May 6th.
Here is their first single "Baby Boy, Baby Girl"

Nice post Rebel. And "13th Floor, Growing Old" is my joint too! In my opinion, "ATLiens" was their best album after "Aquemini," hands down.
ELEANOR RIGBY -- so your favorite Outkast album is Aquemini? I like Atliens best but I love Aquemini too -- all their albums really
@Rebel...Yeah I have to say "Aquemini" is the business! I think I like it because it was so experimental for hip-hop at that time. But all of Outkast's albums are good. They never disappoint :)
Suoul rebel i see you added that NAs joint i told you about the other day, "i see my influence still shinin'.
peace

I cannot wait for Brandy's new album. I already know it is gonna be HOT! None of her producers are giving up any information about her album. I guess we will be really surprised when we finally get a chance to hear something.
