Hot Damn. Haven't bought Ebony in a minute, but this might just be the thing to make me pick it up. Might as well post "Forever" while I'm at it since the cover makes the excellent point of asking what is Black music.
I am really feeling the new single Professional from Richcraft/Atlantic Records artist Young Steff... My boy Chase N. Cashe produced it. [Click here to listen] His debut album is due out September 16th.
And Ush has a new song "Flash" ft. Pharrell
I hope this joint isn't done yet cuz as it is -- it ain't doing nothing for me!
What do y'all think tho -- you feelin Young Steff? Should Chris Brown have left that AutoTune alone? Am I buggin about the new Usher joint? Talk to me y'all!

Thanks homie.

Young Steff sounds like every other male R&B artist that's out. There's nothing unique about his voice or this song "Professional". Usher, Omarion, Chris Brown, Mario, J. Holiday, or NeYo could of sang this song...it's the same shit! If you hadn't told me it was Young Steff, I would of thought is was NeYo or J. Holiday...HipHop and R&B are dead. The game needs some new songwriters and producers...everybodies riding eachothers coat-tails. There's nothing refreshing hitting the airwaves or the Net. We continue to get the same B. Cox, Dark Child, The Clutch, Tricky and The Dream behind the scenes collaborations. O' well, I guess I'm a hater now.

COSIGN!
EVEN NEYO ISHT SOUNDS THA SAME! JUST OVE NEW BEATS!
Chris Brown is gay and that photo cover proves it.
Not only is it photoshopped to death cause hes known for his lack of body but why is it that when he takes his shirt off and stands in the sun, he isn't considered "suspect" by the black community yet singers like Ne-Yo and Omarion get called out for it?...
And the answer to their question is NO Chris Brown represents whats wrong with black music, horrible lyrics, sorry vocals, and overproduced beats.
Sohh Soulful is seriously falling off.
I co-sign with Honest. So I guess we, along with DJ Alcide, are all "haters" now. LOL.
when Young steff tries to realsese edgey stuff no one plays it nor do people request it so richcraft is doin the best they can to release a artist which has been signed to major labels since he was 11 .. 8 years for sum of u dat dont kno his age

LOL! Well damn thats a little rough, aint it?
I do like the Young Steff song although he sounds like R. Kelly and Trey Songs. No feeling Chris Brown and never have, couldn't understand what all the fuss was about really.
I don't think the Soulful column has fallen off at all. It is not easy to come up with freshness everyday to feed the hungry masses. If you think it's so easy to produce a post like this everyday, then maybe you should go somewhere and get a job doing it. Just a suggestion... Keep up the good work, SOHH. Btw, Young Steff is a cutie...

@ WHO??????
Sorry but how many Chris Brown singles, albums, videos, magazine covers, stories on if him and Rihanna are dating do I have to deal with in one month?????? Its sickening. And they say Beyonce is overexposed...Not to mention the dude's music is pure garbage..."take you down, I really wanna take you down"...the true lyrics of a genius at work right?
Chris trying to get them abs right!!!
Ebony should have added RES to their line-up of what is Black music.
And what the fuck is up with you people? You all are so fucking gay obsessed. If you're a dude go suck a dick and get it over with cause you're obviously thinking about it way too much, whether consciously or unconsciously. Jesus Christ! Grow the fuck up!
WOW Levar Thomas can blow. Thanks Susan for posting his website link.

I don't know what Chris Brown is trying to do with that Forever mess. I guess he trying to lose his main fan base. I don't know what Ne-yo and Chris Brown is thinking switching over to this kind of techno music. Stay who you are, you are r&b, do r&b music.

cool pic guyz of course will hate coz they for sure are jelous....bet none of yal haz vocals wether you like o not hez good so fuk yourselves
@Austin
What are you talking about? Chris Brown is one of the worst male R&B singers to ever get fame
My lil cuz Steff deserves to be where he's at. and im not just saying that as a family member im saying that as a producer who has grew up with him...
to go from Apollo Kids to Youngest Member on the ROC....to holdin down his rep after leaving the roc and making it on his own.
Young Steff is a force to be recon with.and for the hataz ill repeat thats not coming from someone who was there b4 the limelight...thats coming from someone who was there for "Learning 2 Love"...to him performing faithfully at South Jerseys Teen Nightspot "Extreme"...to him Rippin the big stage with "Put that on Everything"
All im saying is...if he is like all the other artists out...we'll see if he sinks or floats...but i know where i got my stacks @- Keep It Up Young Steeeeezy!!!
Hmmm...I wouldn't say Young Steff is a force and all that, but he's not terrible. I do OCCASSIONALLY bump that song he has produced by Rich Harrison or whatever. He's just not a stand out artist. Even his promo pic could've been anybody else. His voice is typical and I think R&B has worn out the "girl you look good and I wanna hit" theme. I mean WORN IT OUT!! That said, good luck to him but he might wanna try a different angle to his music or he's going to blend in with the Trey Songs/Bobby V./J. Holiday crowd and flop.(PS: I thought J. HOliday was going to make waves but his album was too Thug&B for most people)
Chris Brown? I've been hearing this song lately and it's not that it's horrible it's that it's a straight bandwagon cut. BUT that's what the kids like so let it play. As far as the tight jeans, tight(ish) is the new baggy if you step outside the hood.
I cannot wait till Levar Thomas gets his time to shine.
che...im so with you...the only people i know who obsessively talk about gay gay gay ALL THE TIME are motherfuckers who are obviously deeeeeep in the closet...when you mention or talk about things they are obviously on your mind....maybe constantly alluding to the fact that someone is or may be gay/suspect hints at something much deeper...ask any psychologist...some of you really need to come to terms with who you are...when i see a man with his shirt off GAY is nowhere in my mental PHYSICALLY FIT is....and you either have to wear a tight ass t-shirt or take your shirt off to show how fit you are...thats the purpose of hitting the gym in the 1st place..so you can show ur hard work off..not to hide it behind a baggy ass t-shirt....come out the damn closet already
First of all I dont think none of yall have heard any of young steffs songs like that the things he wrote his self are great what his father writes are great his song cotton candy is great if yall were to hear him and his songs and not atlantic yall wouldnt think those thing the edgy stuff no one plays on the radio his voice is magnificent when he sings acapella hmmm it makes you shiver i challenge you all to go to a show of his and really listen yall would be suprised
I love my steff he my bro for life
mycomment isnt because he's my best friend its because i've seen that dude work he's a friggin perfectionist...in the studio every body could love the song but to him somethings missing...nothing could be wrong with the song but he finds something out of place young steff is great at what he does and he's better than alot of people out there come on now every body know "can I holla" from the like mike soundtrack
