New Video For Usher "Love In This Club" + No "King of the White Girls," Polow Definitely Has Love for Black Women

It's a little dark and the flashing lights make it a little hard to identify all the high-powered cameos (I believe I saw Rick Ross, Diddy, Kanye West, Robin Thicke, Nelly and of course Jeezy & Polow in the mix) but aside from that I likes it... Keri Hilson makes a great sex kitten, right?

Last week Polow spoke to SOHH's news department about making "Love In This Club" and I wanted to share some of the outtakes because Polow also set the record straight about the whole "King of the White Girls" business...

Anyway here's him making it clear that he DOES NOT only date white women:

"I’ve never said that one time. I’ve never said I don’t date black women I’ve never said I only date white women, what I did on AHH is I compared dating white women to dating black women. This is my first time addressing it because I always read this and was like damn that’s ridiculous...It all started because of the King of White Girls thing, it said self proclaimed but I didn’t give myself that title, that title was given to me by a white man. You have to know my personality -- I don’t take myself that seriously."

Polow also revealed he was once engaged to a black woman, a doctor, but his dedication to his career cost them their relationship.

Another point that Polow made while defending himself over the whole Apple GarageBand presets business is that he's the most versatile producer out right now, he listed a bunch of his recent hits, but I'd rather post up the vids for you to compare. He also mentions Jeezy and Rich Boy but since this is the Soulful blog I will leave them out. Let's see if the music speaks for itself.

Fergie "London Bridge"

Fergie "Glamorous"

Ciara "Promise"

Mario "Crying Out For Me"

Ludacris ft. Mary J. Blige "Runaway Love"

Point taken... I actually think Polow deserves all the accolades he gets because he works incredibly hard -- my job is probably a piece of cake next to his so no hate from me!

DJ Parler is back with his 5th Soulful Mix-- this time it's a tribute to Marvin Gaye

Tracklist

Marvin Intro
Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)
Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing ft Tammi Terrell
Stop, Look, Listen ft Diana Ross
Come Live With Me Angel
Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)
Soon I'll Be Loving You Again
Sexual Healing
Distant Love (Live Version)
Marvin Outro

  • Interesting...I'm surprised you didn't include the quote about Polow saving Usher's career with 'Love in this club"
    -----------------------------------------------------
"If a ten-year-old can make 'Love in This Club' and save Usher's career and make black women want to f*ck him again, after they was done with him for getting married, then sh*t he's a genius just like me. I also wrote the hook - that's not a preset.
    ----------------------------------------------------

Also, that whole"make black women want to f*ck him again" might indicate he indeed has some issues with black women. But as a producer, he isn't any different from the rest of the producers who sample without giving credit where its do. Plus, this sample from garageband isn't as blatantly copied as the sample The Dream used for Umbrella.

The video is too similar to 'Yeah' for me and the choreography was just ok.

  • Other than making beats, are women really workig on Polow like that. I had no clue...lmaooooooooooo

And saving Usher's career? That's a joke if I ever heard one.

  • I clearly adressed that garage band issue in the other blog. He made many hits and has worked his ass off...that was one beat that he just happened to take a preset and made a hit...if its so easy why didn't anyone else make that hit...lol

  • as i of ushers biggest fans i have to say that i was dissappointed with the comeback...the video was ho-hum and the little bit of choreography was blah...his wardrobe was plain..i thought he was gonna do something more futuristic to match the song and just go for chris browns throat with some fly choreography...but nope..the whole thing remimded me of how you know you can beat ur lil cuz in basketball so you dont put in much effort until you realize the nigga got you up 20 to 15......the wall to wall choreography was way better...and ush just came off uninterested to me...he sat no new trends unlike when "yeah" came out and everybody started rockin button ups and fitteds...as a fan i was dissapointed and i say witha sad face that chris brown has a comfortable lead here(not u omarion)

  • Wow. I was unaware that Usher's career needed to be "saved." Interesting. But you have to admit that Polow, as well as many other producers, i.e. Timbaland, can come off as super arrogant. They are good at what they do, no doubt. But there is a very fine line between having a lot of confidence and just being down right pompous. And too many producers cross that line unfortunately, including Polow. Why not be just a tad bit more humble sometimes? You never know when all of this is going to be taken away from you. Nonetheless, he is really good at what he does.

  • This is a great start for Usher's new project. Now I'm ready for him to give us something different and hot. His next single has to be absolute fire! or else this cd might be trash.

  • That Usher video was alright. I don't care what Polow Da Don says, like someone said before me he have issues with black women and he doesn't want to admit it out in the open. Every time he open his mouth about black women he says something slick. Or maybe that's because he a cocky fool. I don't know what started his issues but he needs to solve them.

  • I hate to admit it but, yes Usher's career did need saving. This can very well be the make it or break it album for Ush. Remember when it happened to Bobby Brown...just outta nowhere he peaked and it was a wrap. Its very much here today and gone tomorrow. This album has to be better than Confessions for Usher to maintain his crown.

  • You guys are a tough crowd. I think sometimes readers/fans forget that interviews have to be condensed to quick sound bites -- so usually what you're going to get is the most controversial comments from an artist/producer.

In his interview with SOHH, Polow also revealed he's humbled by his life on the regular - particularly since his life often includes dinner with Quincy Jones and Jimmy Iovine and outings with Mary J. Blige etc... He also said he's not satisfied with his career or his finances and that's why he works so hard.

BUT I don't know why I'm wasting my breath, I could go on and on and y'all would still find fault.

  • April 7, 2008 4:18 PM
  • Jazzy Soul says...
  • @Soul Rebel...I completely understand what you're saying. But for the most part, we ONLY get the "controversial" comments from the person being interviewed, and that's what most readers comment on. It's not really fair to fault us for having an opinion based soley on what we read. We're not there during the whole interview to know that the interviewee has a different side, so, for the most part, we can only go by what is given to us. I can't hate on Polow because I don't know the man personally, but just by WHAT I'VE READ, he comes off as arrogant. But if you said that he has a humble side, I believe you. I'm also open-minded enough to know that probably does have a more likeable side than what is presented to us in a published interview. It just would be nice to actually see that side in print every now and then.

  • Shame that the no.2 song in the country is an apple tunes preset.

Jeezy is such a mediocre rapper.

Usher seems to be losing his creativity

  • I don't date black women because most of them have 8 baby daddys, on welfare, and have big, loud ass, triffling mouths. I wasn't mad at Polow for saying he only dates white girls, at least he was keeping it real. I don't date white girls neithor though. I was the one who originally blogged on Polow's obsession with white girls. Me and him had a sit down and spoke on the matter in his private studio. I did a great job and put my thing in it.

    P.S.
I'll never give up on black women
