So Duffy and Estelle have been fighting it out on the UK singles charts...
This is Duffy's video for "Mercy"
There's been a bit of talk in the foreign press that Estelle suggested Duffy isn't representative of soul music. Click here to see what Duffy reportedly had to say in response.
I am personally more interested to hear what you have to say -- Is Duffy soulful -- yay or Nay?
Shareefa is trying to make a fan out of me. She remixed Ryan Leslie's "Diamond Girl" along with her DTP labelmate Willy Northpole and I love it.
If you listen to the lyrics you'll notice Reefa is claiming "straight DTP" now. Clearly she wants no parts of Def Jam - guess working that first album must've been rough. Reefa's new album is going to be called The Secret, her single "On Fire" ft. Jadakiss is currently on a few radio stations. The new album includes some collabos with many of the familiar faces from her last album and a banger from Marsha Ambrosius.
The Pee Pee Man has remixed "Touch My Body"
What do y'all think? U know I'm giving it a thumbs down, I prefer the pee pee free version.
Did anybody peep Mimi on Oprah yesterday -- she looked cute in her very conservative for Mariah navy blue dress. She's on American Idol tonight. And of course E=MC² is out now -- anybody coppin it today?
Here are links to Mimi on Oprah if you missed it: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Alright y'all that's it for now. Holla Holla Holla...Talk to me y'all!

That Duffy song is fire and hella catchy. I like Estelle but she need to fall the hell back wid that ignant "all white people have no soul, only black people do" nonsense. And if she even knew what she was talkin about she would know that Duffy is not trying to be black...she is more in the style of Dusty Springfield so whatever.
Mariah looks absolutely incredible on Oprah. But the bits she sang at the beginning were hella week and the end was lipped (i'm a stan so I know lol). I really fear for her voice cos I haven't heard a great live performance from her in years.smh. hope she rests up for Idol!
Mariah is garbage. I am tired of this unicorn riding chick. Album is trash! Don't waste your money on it! Go cop that Discipline cd!
No estelle was saying that she was tired of journalists trying to force feed all these artists down our throats as soul and she's right.
Mariah cd is ok i liked the mimi cd better i agree with KAREEM pick up the discipline cd !!!!!!!!!!
You're right Dreel. That's exactly what she was saying. Anyway, E=MC2 is okay. Not bad, but nothing groundbreaking either. For the most part, many of the songs sound like rejects from "Emancipation," which isn't totally a bad thing. Either way, it's a solid album.
Let's see how long it takes for the Janet/Mariah stans to go at each other's throats this time. I would say in about 5...4...3...2...
1...sike, but seriously i guess duffy is goin that amy winehouse route sounds different for her. by the way check out this music blog: http://djtriumph.blogspot.com
That touch my body song is wack..the remix, the orginal, all of them suck..There's nothing exciting about that song @ all..Sounds like 1993 Mariah..That shit's lazy
I bought that new mariah cd and I do like her but I think that Janet Jackson's cd is better I guess the media really don't know what they are talking about!
E=MC2 is one of Mariahs worst albums. Only like 2 good cuts on there.
I see Northern Soul is comin back in the U.K. Who cares if its white ppl...still sounds better than half the trash&B being made in this country
lmao@moresick... oh no "rainbow" is mariah's worse album, this one comes a close 2nd tho... shareefa killed this, it sounds better than ryan leslie's version, maybe they should try to do a lil remix... duffy's song is cool, i heard it the other day but she still has nothing on my girl amy...estelle needs to quiet down since her vocals and lyrics are nothing, her cd was kinda boring if u ask me... I'll keep my eye on duffy tho
THAT DUFFY CHICK IS JUST ANOTHER AMY WINEHOUSE WANNA BE - THATS NOT SOUL, THATS JUST EMULATING MUSIC FROM THE 60'S - ANGIE STONE, SADE, MUSIQ SOULDCHILD - THATS MORE TOWARDS SOUL, NOT A NOVELTY LIKE THIS "DUFFY"
bout time you shed some light on Duffy. She is not an Amy Whinehouse clone, that would be an insult. She has a far better range, emotes far better soul than amy and has depth. more on this later!
Hell no, Duffy is not soul. It was good while it lasted but I am tired of this blue eye soul and I'm tired of people falling for it.
Shareefa alright but she just like Cheri Dennis, she don't get that much spotlight shine on her.
RIGHT ON NNL "I am tired of this blue eye soul and I'm tired of people falling for it." - ****ATTENTION - CLEAN YOUR EARS - *** DUFFY BAG IS NOT SOUL **** and no i am not hatin on white singers - JON B, LISA STANSFEILD - now thats SOUL right there ***
I have to say hands down Janet new CD is fire!
remember when both janet and mariah's cds were not out yet the listining parties mariah was being praised and the first listeners wud say mimi's album is so much polished with t-pain . so janet's came out first and it is good album all i was thinkin' was "is i cant wait 2 hear mimi and see how better her album was coz janet did her thing thats for sure" now mimi's album leaks i download it and i was hopin' 2 get from the shops just like janet's but it's such a shame tha after al the praise her album sounds like bsides from her recent album this has 2 stop janet jackson's discipline's so much betta im not on her side and i know mimi's gonna out sell b-coz of al the promotion she got and all the praise while island def jam sent janet 2 japan 4 a pointless reason somebody tell her she's got number 1s in that album - luv, 2nite, roller coaster, the 1, greatest ex, and more the album's of th chain .
Mimi sounds a lil rough live.
I gotta say Reefa had one of the most energetic shows i have seen in a while... i truly hope she gets what she deserves!
we need a new hoodstress, much love to mary, but generation x is in their 30's lets give the millineum kids a try!
Yh jon b and robin thicke can pull off soul music Duffy doesn't.
