You might remember reading about India.Arie's new label SoulBird Music on SOHH recently but if not I'll remind you (Click here to read) -- anyway I was excited to see her first artist is Anthony David -- a very talented brother from Savannah who has been making noise in Atlanta for a minute now.
A former backup singer for India.Arie, Anthony David has already released two solo indie albums, 2004's Three Chords And The Truth and 2006’s Red Clay Chronicles. His June 17th Universal Republic/SoulBird Music release Acey Deucey will bring together the best music from both albums
Anthony says Acey Deucey is his nickname and that the title also reflects two different stylistic approaches to his music -- beat-driven vs. acoustic material. In addition to India.Arie, frequent Outkast and Erykah Badu collaborator Kiesha Jackson (Millie Jackson's daughter) is also featured.

Since Arie has described Anthony’s sound as ‘Bill Withers meets Mos Def,’ adding "I love his music for how he speaks from a man’s emotional perspective in relationships, and his views on learning about life as a young man of the hip hop generation," I thought it would be nice to toss you a lil Bill Withers and Mos Definite in this post.

i live in ATL...Anthony David is not new to us...he is the TRUTH...real music....but you have to see him LIVE to really appreciate...while you at it, check out anotha ATL native, Algebra...real good music
Anthony David is that dude. Good music through and through. I have a couple of his albums, and they're on point.
Good move on India.Arie's part.Hopefully she'll be releasing a new album soon too.

I'm loving Anthony David, the male India Arie has finally arrived and he's just as good if not better. Can't wait to buy his album since I've heard some of his material in the past on youtube. Also its about time India dropped an album. Neo-soul is coming back slowly but surely I see. His voice does sound alot like Bill Withers. I dunno about the Mos Def part LOL.

Anthony David is beyond boring - he enduces death. His music is un-fun, un-moving, and un-profitable for labels and record stores. My wife brought his join home after an India Arie show and we eagerly put it in the player. It got ONE rotation up to about song 4 and found its way to the car floor. It was eventually stepped on my son. I am happy now. I love a lot of cool music. Anthony just aint making cool music. Sorry.
