Look familiar?
Def Jam's newest chica on the block Karina Pasian... kinda reminds you of somebody right?
this is what she sounds like: "Sixteen at War" written by (who else?) The-Dream & Tricky Stewart [sidenote: Did The Dream suddenly find some depth on this one or is it just me?]
and for comparison's sake:
I don't think they sound that much alike but I see what they were trying to do...

Yea, DefJam is trying to make their own Alicia Keys 2.0. But Alicia is one of the most talented artists ever. You may copy the look but not the sound or the soul.
Yeah the only comparison I see between Alicia and Karina Pasian is in the image and the fact that both of the ladies play the piano (I'm guessing Karina also plays the piano since she's sitting at one). But she's not half bad. The song is kinda catchy and she's not a bad singer. So I guess we shall see what's in store for her in the next year or so.
SHE'S NO ALICIA!!!!!!!....But in all fairness,Who is? That song is cool for her peers but I can't imagine her being able to cross over fans of all ages like Alicia. She's young though, They should let her try to be a little more original and not fall victim to being an Alicia Keys impersonator.
Those Blaque girls are so ghetto. Did you see the one in the middle chewing gum like a cow to grass, WRONG. I don't what they on about but I wouldn't mind an album from them as long as it is good.
I hope this new chick don't release a wack album like Alicia's last joint which was for the most part pure garbage.

It's a darn shame that Def Jam had to get a carbon copy of Alicia Keys. It's ridiculous. That's what wrong with the music bizness today; artists are copying each other instead of being themselves & creative. Another Alicia Keys is not needed; another good singer is needed.
I like that new joint Crazy Crazy by Q of 112. It's a nice smooth track & he sounds great on it.
Much love to T-Boz; but, Blaque needs to GO HOME!! They will not bring anything new to R&B. They cant sing. Sit down Blaque!!!
no offense to alicia fans but she is an ok artist. she tends to be very very safe and repetitive with her music. i cant hear this new girl's song since Im at work but the industry needs to be revamped, too many people doing the same thing over and over, using the same songwriters and producers...

I agree about it not being garbage, But what about "The Diary Of Alicia Keys"? I think that was her best album by far.
I loved her first too albums but the latest one i below par. anyway I went to this Karina chick's myspace and have to say I am impressed with what I have heard so far. I don't think she is an Alicia clone just because she plays the piano and is mixed race. Her voice is nothing like Alicia's and I really think she can be big if promoted right. Good luck to her and she is really young so don't hate to much on this lil' girl trying to make it.

Alicia can't be replaced
This girl sounds nothing like Alicia and if she plays the piano that is cool but she need not wear those hats and try to look like Alicia. The record business is just crazy! Everyone trying to create clones. I am sure that isn't this girls natural style and if it isn't It will not work it will just be another gimmick. All she will ever do is be compared to an artist who has the respect of her peers and haters alike. All of Alicia's CD's are different depending on what I'm looking for determines which one I will play. I love As I Am I have played this one the most.
Blaque needs to just disapear and I like Q's song he was always my favorite his voice has such a nice tone but for some reason the little skinny dude with the whiny voice did so much lead in 112.
Tamika says that BLAQUE can't sing!!! You must be smoking, sniffing and drinking. I just heard some of trheir new songs and they are really, really good. Stop hatin' cuz you want to be in their shoes. I bet you have a MySpace with a bunch of your whacked demo stuff, right! Can't stand HATERS! YUK!

the only artist selling these days is alicia.
( As I AM ) 3 mil sold and counting so they trying
to answer back. but this chick cannot compare. def jam keeps doing this like rhianna is the
answer for beyonce. how about putting out somthing new and different this chick is okay but alicia
is a living legend and will be here for a long time. and AS I AM is not her best album to date
but compared to everything else out there it's the best of 2008.

Well I have admit, I didn't know of Karina until a few days ago after I heard Slow Motion. First thing I thought was "Oh boy another A. Keys..." but to be honest Karina separates herself quite nicely, trying to make a connection with the younger generation. She'll be an artist with her own uniqueness. And for those of you who may not know...Karina is Dominican.
theres thousands of people out there who can sing and play the piano! but karina can do a lot more. She has sung live with bocelli ! she can dance! she can sing in several different languages, her piano skills are just as good as anybody out there and SHE CAN SING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! alicia is a legend but theres always room for another.
