Is Mariah Hotter Than The Beatles + Will Leona Keep Mimi Out The #1 Spot?

Although "Touch My Body" is currently down one spot to #15 on Billboard's Hot 100, that hasn't stopped folks from speculating that it may be headed for # 1 and a new record soon to follow.

As I told you last week - "Touch My Body" is finally available as a digital download, which could give Mimi's single sales a boost. If "Touch My Body" does hit number one Mariah will have 18 #1 singles to her credit -- beating Elvis (who is tied with her for the second most # 1 records) and gaining on the record-holding Beatles who've recorded 20 #1's. (Considering 50% of the Beatles are dead, Elvis is dead and Mariah is showing no signs of retiring, it's fairly safe to say it's only a matter of time before this record is hers).

While we're talking about the single, I may as well mention that another "Touch My Body" remix dropped and Cam'ron is on it. Touch My Body remix feat. Cam'ron

It sounds like hot garbage in my opinion. Mariah you were better off with The-Dream!

Ironically enough -- the newcomer a lot of people compare to Mariah is sitting pretty at # 1 right now.

Leona Lewis

Here are all 17 of Mariah's #1 Pop Singles -- Which one is your favorite?

* 1990 - Love Takes Time
* 1990 - Vision Of Love
* 1991 - Someday
* 1991 - I Don't Wanna Cry
* 1991 - Emotions
* 1992 - I'll Be There
* 1993 - Hero
* 1993 - Dream Lover
* 1995 - Fantasy
* 1995 - One Sweet Day (w/ BoyzIIMen)
* 1996 - Always Be My Baby
* 1997 - Honey
* 1998 - My All
* 1999 - Heartbreaker
* 1999 - Thank God I Found You
* 2005 - We Belong Together
* 2005 - Don't Forget About Us

Mine is "Emotions" hands down... I just love when she gets into that dolphin-range octave. Check out this old footage of Mimi hitting the glass breaking notes while in concert in Tokyo.

That has to be the MOST clothing I've ever seen on Mariah.

  • Favorite No. 1 song...I Don't Wanna Cry (very underrated song). By the way Vision of Love is her first no. 1 single. Congrats to her when she gets the no. 1 spot, and sohhl rebel why haven't you posted the video of mimi singing her new song Love Story?

  • There is something about Mariah's songs that end up growing on people after a while. Emotions was her only song that I loved from the gate. I str8 hated Touch My Body when I first heard it...but now its almost tolerable, over the weekend I found myself actually bumpin to it.

    In general, Mariah is one of the last singers left from an era of sangers! On top of being super talented she's had the luxury of being around the best. She's mastered her craft and knows how to work with what she has.

  • Mariah is talented, I can forgive her for her recent dud performances. My fave Mariah No. 1 is Always Be My Baby, the melody in that song is sick and her vocals were on point.

  • I'ma have to go with "Vision of Love" with "My All" coming in at a close second. I just like the slower grooves by Mariah. I guess that's why I absolutely hated "Touch My Body" when it first came out, and I kinda still do. But it's growing on me, I suppose.

    Hey Rebel, can you PLEASE post a video/song homage to LEVERT since Sean passed away over the weekend? I am really saddened by his passing. Levert was one of my favorite R&B groups of all time. I know Eddie and the rest of the fam are taking it extra hard right now.

  • Jazzy Soul - A Levert tribute post is a great idea -- I was already planning a Marvin Gaye one since tomorrow is the 24th annniversary of his death -- I'll make sure to do something before the week is over.

    K - I'm going to do Michelle as my afternoon post.

  • As a fan I must say you took it back with that performance. My favorite #1's are Vision of love fantasy Love takes time and Always be my baby. Honestly if should does go to number 1I feel like that good look because who would have thought she would have been in same league as the Beatles or Elvis because back when she started no one imagined this because you had so many greats around running the show Whitney, Janet, Madonna Mary and so many others so when you hear this type of news you think those names. However I just wanna say that's a good look for anybody with a dream stay focused and keep your eye on the prize because it can happen. As for Mimi keep doing your thing and continue to let your talent shine.Keep writing and co writing because it does pay off.

  • Mariah has already overtaken Elvis to have the most number ones by a solo artist, as Billboard.com have revealed that Touch My Body has hit #1 on the Hot 100. The single has also become record breaking in the number of downloads in one week, shattering Rihanna's title.

    Mimi is looking so hot right now, the songs she's aired or sung live are 'O.O.C'.

    The Beatles better watch out, Mimi could have that title before the year is out! Who knows?

    Congratulations Mariah!
