Sadly my favorite HBO series EVER "The Wire" ended this Sunday, but in better news it looks like Jill Scott has a new job with the network.
Scott will be starring in "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency," a new series for HBO which is based on an adaptation of Alexander McCall Smith's popular series of detective novels.
So far HBO has ordered 13 episodes, beginning with a two hour pilot co-written and directed by Anthony Minghella which was shot last summer. BBC viewers will have their chance to watch the pilot in the form of a stand alone film next month, while HBO plans to use the pilot as the first episode of the new series, which is scheduled to go into production this summer and launch next first quarter.
"Agency" stars Jill Scott as Precious Ramotswe , owner of the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana, while Anika Noni Rose plays her quirky secretary. Idris Elba is also featured in the pilot.
I'm looking forward to it, HBO usually does a great job with their original programming and I think Jill has been doing great as an actress -- wonder if she'll be able to sing at all on the show. Anybody read these books?
Either way, Jill can't be fu*ked with! Especially not on this song:
