Leona Lewis Performs on Oprah, These Brit Chicks Tryin to Run This

British X-Factor winner Leona Lewis appeared on Oprah Monday. She's backed by Clive Davis and Simon Cowell -- after doing huge numbers internationally her album Spirit comes out in the US April 8th.

America is definitely a lil' smitten with Great Britain. Amy Winehouse was the big winner at the Grammy's -- Leona Lewis is clearly being ushered in as the next big star -- I also happen to like this chick Estelle.
You've probably heard her songs "Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)" and "American Boy" with Kanye West
When I saw this video from her first album - which she released on her own label btw - I adored her even more...
Watch out Amy Winehouse -- some of your fellow countrywomen are about to steal your shine! Estelle's album Shine is out April 29th via Homeschool/Atlantic Records.

I'm all about Leona Lewis. The UK video for Bleeding Love is way better than the US one.
As for Estelle... she just doesn't do it for me.
I've been stuck on the British Invasion since '06. Robin Thicke, Natasha Bedingfield, Estelle, Corrine Bailey Rae, Daniel Merriweather, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson, Leona Lewis, Joss Stone, Craig David...I swear...the Brits make better music than the Americans.
Robin Thicke is not British as he was born in America just as his father, actor Alan Thicke from 'Growing Pains' was Born in America
Robin Thicke ain't British, but yer we got some talent.
Estelle made waves here but then faded, so moved to the US (with J. Legend's help) and has kept it fresh, 1st album was a sleeper.
But we got plenty other talent over here like Natalie Williams, Taio Cruz, Bashy, Sway, Nathan...
The British invasion is a funny thing, you guys are getting what is deemed sellable by the major labels (except Estelle who's now signed in the U.S) Unlike yourselves we only have one chart system so people don't get the recognition they deserve.
As foe Leona Lewis, great first song, boring as hell Album... i wish Simon Cowell would spend his time in the U.S promoting U.K music in general instead of just one artist.

I think Robin Thicke lived in Britain for the most part until "The Evolution." I have no idea though.
Leona's superb. Ignore the "lack of personality" comments - they mainly arise from the lack of intelligent interviewers in the UK who stick to the same boring script every time she's interviewed She sparkled on a couple of Chicago radio stations earlier today.
They say she is boring because she is not a drugged up mess like Amy Wino.
This girl has the biggest voice since Mariah and Whitney in their prime. Her album seemed boring at first but when I gave it a second listen it was really good, and her voice is da truth. That Bleeding Love song is a smash, and her follow up singles are really good too.
But she ain't the only talent from the UK, as others have mentioned. I think Keisha White needs to be added to the list, this girl is also very talented and her album 'Out of My Hands' is really beautiful and quite haunting. Her voice is amazing also and very unique.
We also got the veteren Beverly Knight, although I don't like her last album which was a bit too country, her other albums have been critically acclaimed and she a beautiful voice which sounds even better live. There is also Jamelia who I love, and the underrated Terri Walker. Not to mention Shola Ama and Samanth Mumba (I know she is pop but I love her).
Robin Thicke lived in Canada....no British connection....stop trying to force it....you made a mistake.
I'm not feeling Leona, but I really like Estelle, she's multi-talented. I dont see how leona is supposed to be the next big thing after Amy Winehouse...

these comparisons with mariah and whitney are ridiculous. leona has yet to register any type of emotion in her other than the roboticess her label brushes gives her. why call your album "spirit" if you have none, no spirit, no real determination, enthusiasm in your voice. it takes more than just a pretty voice to convey true emotion. her voice is questionable to me, not much depth and variety. all she is a marketing experiment poised to brainwash and rip people of any type of enjoyment of real music. another questionable artist to me is taio cruz - he offers much of the same, same beats, no real lyrical depth. and then there's craig david, who i like, but he is too consumed with the mainstream to do anything real spectacular. the british artists i admire are lemar, james morrison, james lidell, and whinehouse

She is a tad bit robotic. That song is very nice. that is the type of song Mariah should be singing. I don't think Leona's voice is ANYWHERE near what Mariah's was at this stage in her career. At times the UK people are more excepting of music and sometimes it has the old time feel to it.
Leona is a more boring version of mariah. I think she's talented and goregeous but she needs to step it up and get some carisma... estelle is cool, but if it wasn't for her stellar production and decent lyrics I wouldn't really pay attention... she doesn't really bring it vocally or when she's rapping...
the more mainstream artists from the UK are starting to cross seas. shame theres no taste in the USA for REAL music no more, Dizzee Rascal is the most innovative thing to happen to hip hop since he came out with his debut "Boy in Da Corner". USA market generally too close minded to ever take notice though
come on people the UK has got some great artist and so does america, and we both equally have trash artist. im mean over here in american we got what u guys call "ringtone dance" trash, and some of the most cheezy garbage pop songs ive heard have come from the UK.

Amy Winehouse owns Leona Lewis, she has much more of a raw talent, writes her own songs and has her own style.

I just bought leona lewis' cd 2day after hearing bleeding love on the radio and fell in luv w/ it! Its prolly my fave rite now on the radio!! I can't believe its no. 1 in like 20 countries! That's crazy I've never heard of that b4. I didn't even kno she was british! I feel ridiculous 4 sayin this but I think its amazing how british singers don't have an accent when they sing but then again y would they? I just wanted to say that the cd is slightly bleak! Bleeding love is around an 8 or 9 and the other songs are more like 3s or 4s. I do think her voice slightly resembles mariah's. when she's belting and hitting those big high notes, they do sound similar. But I personally don't think she even remotely sounds like whitney. Whitneys the best singer of all time!! No comparison! On the issue of her personality, I really don't care what she acts like as long as she delivers w/ her voice. Its so ridiculous what ppl look 4 now in a singer! Just sing people! Don't worry bout what u look or act like! Just sing! That's what its all about!

Ok so I know Americans have better music, Amy Winnehouse crackhead self stole America's 1960 r&b feel to music. Leona Lewis is as dull as a doorknob but she has really great pipes but acts like a robot. She needs to spice up her act. Lily Allen has horrible vocals and bubblegum lyrics which I adore, and estelle is just awesome I love "wait a minute" and by the way I am nor British or American
