New Video: Ashanti - "The Way That I Love You"

Mimi's new single is pretty hott. It was super hotttttt until I went back to listen to Emancipation and now is just hott. Mimi is certified.

But I must admit that I am kinda feeling Ashanti's new song. I love how a lot of people are going back to the 80's - 90's sound. I love Riri's "Don't Stop the Music" and MJ ft Akon on "Gotta Be Startin Something" - I think since "Thriller" is back out there the sounds are being revamped and recycled in a good way.

The video is okay but the big hair and pencil skirt is not Ashanti. That generic Beyonce look is getting tired and old. I was sooooooooooo glad when Riri cut her hair. Even though Kelis did it a year ago.

Ashantis single is bleh...Dont Care for Mariahs new single either, its just Average, you can tell they fixed her voice...

Ashanti is over, it was good while it lasted back in the day, and Mimi should of came out the door harder than that, but it will probally be #1 since all crappy music goes to the top these days....

The Ashanti's song is ok, her vocals sound like they've improved, The mariah Track is seriously WACK!!!!

The labels must be reading the blogs heavy today... they already started ripping the video off DailyMotion.

I really love the song a lot. I think it will be a pretty big smash. Her vocals has improved and they're more emotive than ever before. The video was very good. She looks very classy and beautiful. The video started getting a little too crazy for me at the pyshco parts with the knives. Overall, very good and I think it's a great way to come back. I'm glad she didn't pursue "Switch" as the first release.

I love the song, the video, her look. She's definitely stepping her game up (finally) but I suspect that most of those in the female RnB game (with exceptions like Beyonce,Mary. Mariah and err..thats it) Ashanti will never have another "smash" album or single. Her time as a superstar is pretty much over, but I think she can still make it as a moderately successful artist (eg. Ciara, Keyshia). The RnB game is calling out for fresh meat....a new female who can deliver something fresh to the masses.

Mariah's single will not be a smash either (kinda like It's like that) but no doubt it will do acceptably well. I hope she has the real goodies on the album (like TEOM). Its funny to me because Soulman takes a squat on Janet DAILY yet he stay on Mimi's clit like white on rice. This song is the EXACT equivalent of Janet's Call On Me. A sweet, moderate, acceptable, generic, somewhat melodic little ditty that really doesn't make the grade. Yet when Mariah does is she's bringing the fire? Please

Ashanti was once given the title, "Princess of Hip Hop Soul" and in all fairness that title belongs to Keyshia. Ashanti needs to focus on Hollywood since she is already in their good graces. Maybe she can pop off a TV show ala Eve or something and take a rest from the R&B music scene a bit while it is going through what seems like a transition.

As for Mimi's latest...it isn't that impressive or ground breaking to me. I am not a huge Mimi fan like the host of this blog and most folks so maybe thats why I don't get it. But I am already reading folks justifying the song's weakness because they are 'sure she has an even better song on tap for the second release'. I am sure this song will do well but to me it don't show much by way of change. This could easily have been on her last cd. Or anyone of them for that matter. But that's just my take.

I am not an Ashanti fan but I do like the video. I just wished Ashanti voice was better because her voice has not improved at all over the past couple of years.

Before I say anything else, I like the song and video. Very cinematic and relateable story line. The song ain't bad either (It bumps in the system, the drums). Foolish part 2, but from a different perspective. Moving on, I know everybody is going to run in here and talk about how Ashanti can't sing, or isn't a great singer. But come on now. The chick been doing this 6 years now. It's a bit too late to be worried about how she sounds. When she dropped her first album, everybody was drawing up all these petitions and saying how she should be banned from singing, because she's such a bad singer and so fourth. That extreme ridicule didn't make her go away then, and it's not going to make her go away now. So give a rest. Moving on, as far as record sales and smash recrds. Those days are GONE. Even the A-Listers and house hold name celebrities are struggling. So it's not about being a superstar anymore. It's not about selling massive records anymore. Because that doesn't last obviously. Things are changing back. Slowly but surely, and I'm happy about that.

Mariah's song does sound like something she's done before...i hope the whole album isn't like that...but i'll still rock wit her, cuz she's got the baddest voice out right now

Ashanti's vocals have definitely improved, although they can still use some work. I'm just hoping she does ok this time around. The record industry isn't what it used to be.

That Mariah song is seriously corny as hell. This sounds so much like her old stuff. She needs to step it up, because this song is not hot. Her vocals have definitely gone downhill.

The Ashanti record is good work put in, but however I feel like with the problems with Ashanti and Gotti the album will go left instead of right. I am rooting her though. As for the Mariah track I am feeling it the way she tells her man how to play with her and touch her body. Also I like how she made the track a Mariah joint and something current as far as topic that everybody can relate to without going over our heads.

sorry Ashanti's vid is cheap, and Mariahs new song needs a remix fast. Mariah has let her fans down end of story.

Ashanti is cool...but i agree Keyshia is killin it right now.

This Ashanti song is that song...This is that goodness. Listen to the emotion she gives in the song. The words are on. and the Video is straight for sure. Goes right with the song....This song should make some good moves especially if MTV and BET lets it on (with murder/knife etc.)...But I'm feeling this song to the fullest like "Rain On Me" it's got that same feeling...DON'T HATE!

Its good to hear Ashanti singing in a higher key...her background vocals are tight. I still don't think she's a 'singer' or that she will be able to perform this live and really entertain...but this single will probably do well.

Mariah should know better...that song sounds very pre-emancipation. She's a real vocalist who is going to be held to a higher standard. Its time to let the heartbreak and honey formulas go and deliver some real substantial music. With Alicia in the game dropping authentic shit Mariah can easily be written off again.

Keysha Cole and Mariah Carey should never be mentioned in the same sentence more or less compared to eachother. Keysha gotta whole lotta work to put in before even having honorable mentions among the likes of Mariah.

I like Ashanti's video, she could of just had a boring love sick video but she did something different.

Never thought I'd be writing this about Ashanta in 2008, but I'm actually feeling this song. I haven't been much of an Ashanti fan since "Rain on Me". Definitely not a stan of hers, but she's overachieved in my book. Big ups to her for staying around so long. She outlasted a lot of her peers.

The Mariah track - hmm - I need a few mor spins before I make up my mind. It didn't grab me right away. It's not awful, but people expect something big out the gate, especially for as long as some folks have been waiting on new material from her. I agree, this is Mimikin's "Call On Me" - and we all know how that worked for Janet. I feel like she's riding this clearly JD track like she did "Shake It Off'", but SIO was better, and it was the first time we heard her do something like that. This sounds like a less appealing retread of "Shake It Off" to me.

I love Mariah, but that song is not a single. And I feel bad for Ashanti. At least, I would if she wasn't wit Nelly.
