I am so hype about this video - Chris B doing his thing as usual, and Lil Mama being one of the few youngsters in the game giving it up to Miss Jackson ("Listen", Beyonce' - Pun INtended)

SIT DOWN! This chick is 16 or 17 and she is having fun and making music about what she knows.

For her to be considered a rapper, must she conjure up some ridiculous struggle of living in the projects and running drugs? Please... its appropriate for her age and her audience.

She raps better than Missy. Hell, she rhyme better than Flo-Rida and all these come up rappers with T-Pain on the hook.

Lil Mama makes music for kids her age. Let's keep that in mind. I work with youth and I hate the music selection they have to choose from. It's about time someone is making something age-appropriate for them. I hope others follow suit.

Hip-Hop isn't just talking about struggling on the streets. Listen to Lupe Fiasco's music and you'd know that. Adele - 19: The Whole album. This is another new white artist from the UK who is putting down soul like nobody's business. The cd was just released in the UK on Monday and is expected to top the charts. She's generated huge buzz over there and I haven't heard any plans for releasing her here but ya'll need to check her out. The single is "Chasing Pavements."

Is there something in the water over there that's generating these young white artists with so much soul? I mean the UK has always produced blue-eyed soul but they are in the midst of a run to rival the 80's legends George Michael & Annie Lennox.

Anyone who says Lil' Mama is "wack" has no concept of flow, rhyme, rhyme scheme and stacatto.

Going off of straight lyrical mechanics, Lil' Mama is nicer than a good 80 percent of rappers out today.

And in the sense of content, like everyone says, she makes age appropriate music. When she gets older she's GOTTA make that leap to more adult themes tho', otherwise she'll be where Lil' Bow Wow is now, a grown ass adult making kid music.

But on the real, i want to know what people define as 'wack'?

Like for me, a "wack" emcee is one who uses monosyllable or double syllable, end-of-the-bar rhyme schemes. A wack person has a lack of vocabulary, although this rule has exceptions. A wack person has a lack of flow dynamics (in other words, their flow is the same way, every time, each rhyme). A wack person may also be someone with no conviction or point (i.e. the most wack technical rhyme could still be considered "nice" in my book, if they used what little skills they had to attack real issues, or at least issues that meant something to them such as Plies in 100 years. I thought he was "wack" until I heard that and realized he actually cared about something).

But I think y'all just fling the word "wack" around to describe people you're just not feeling, rather than to describe any lack of real technical or mechanical rap skill.

Because Lil' Mama isn't wack by any stretch of the definition in my book.

And I'm 30 years old.
