EXCLUSIVE: Tweet Says She's Still Waiting On Missy Elliot's Call Back, Plus... SOHH Soulful Top 5

Yesterday I spoke on the phone with Tweet all about her new cd, Love, Tweet, on the independent label Umbrella Records.

Our call was connected as she raced through the streets of Atlanta to get things done for her pending release.

We talked about the difference between her first two albums:

I finally got to do music in the way that I want to do it. The last album was about compromise. Before this new project I was really gonna give up on it... and just be Mom... but Jheryl Busby gave me the opportunity to be the woman I always wanted to be with his offer and I couldn't refuse.

The first album is definitely the type of music I wanted to do. The second one was a compromise with the record label. They kinda wanted me to do some hip hop sounding records so I had to re-do them, taking off about half the songs that I wanted to be on it. And putting on ones that compromised my sound.

I asked her if Missy will appear on the new project:

I'm still waiting on Missy, her schedule is so busy right now, but she has a couple records she wants me to do. And I'm just waiting for that right now, other than that I didn't want to come out with a whole album with people on it other than myself.

But while y'all were reading between those lines, we were compiling our

Tweet we miss you. The first album was a gem but the second one was garbage, so it is good that she is going back to being herself, good luck. I picked up her first album and will do the same if her third is any good.

That Missy Elliot is so hit and miss on some album she does a stellar job (Fantasia's last album and 'After the storm;) and others are like a car crash (last tweet and monica album).

Jayms has what it takes to make it. She just needs the right song and someone to help her guide to that next level. A.Keys is the Queen in my eyes. She is an artist in the truest since of the word and I have nothing but love for that woman's music.

Good for Tweet she is still leaving her dream...Tweet don't ever compromise, do you!

That Chris Brown CD is garbage!

What are y'all talking about. The vocals were a mess and the beats were overproduced.

Good thing I got it on bootleg otherwise I'd be really angry.

Ok. I have to add one more song to my list.

I just heard Alicia Keys' "No One" Remix f/ Damian Marley.

I was never a big fan of "No One". To me, I always wished this song was just a full blown reggae song, and I got my wish. This remix is the ish. I think this song works so much better as a roots reggae (not just cuz I'm jamaican and love roots reggae)...but the raspy/strain in her voice, the Bob-Marley-esque wails all makes sense here. I LOVE THIS.
