Hopefully Janet can pull this off. Been a JDJ fan for 20+ years. She's already been received back on MTV now L.A. needs to work harder for promotion.

I'm glad JD isn't handling the new album. I really didn't care for her last one. It just felt like it was missing a certain energy that her other projects had.

I'm hoping the new album is a mix between the "All For You" and "Damita Jo" albums...

anyway, I'm rooting for her.

Janet has always been my favorite entertainer but Im not sure if having her and Mariah drop CD's at the same time is good idea, if they want her to have the #1 album.I need someone at Def Jam to think about this.Regardless,Im a fan and I support everything she does

Noting hating but unless Janet shows some growth I can't see her album doing big numbers. She's too old to do that same ol same ol...she like 40+ still making music for teenagers, most of the people who grew up on her music are grown now and she needs to give them something they can relate too.

They (def jam) might want to slow their role. I used to think all Janet needed was a hot single, but def jam knows from experience that a hot single doesn't equal album sells. Hell, 20 Y.O sold better than good girl gone bad! She really needs to put together a classic album and it looks like def jam really rushed this one. Madonna and Mariah took at least a year to put together their albums for 2008. It would be the final nail for Janet's career is she gets crushed by both of them.

She needs to do a pop record. She is a pop and video artist not R&B. She will do okay if she stick to this formula. However, I still don't see her putting up big numbers.

mariah's album isn't coming out until sometime in march, AFTER janet's album. who said that they're coming out at the same time? not that it matters, but come on now. the only reason mariah did good last time around was because there wasn't anyone else out at the time, and the world was on beyonce overload. janet's 'damita jo' album didn't do as well as she's used to (although it still went double platinum!) because ignorant ass america was still hung up on the superbowl. it had nothing to do with the music, because it ws one of her best albums. people already had it in their minds not to buy it because they let their hypocrisy take over, and they also seemed to forget that she wasn't on that stage alone. janet didn't expose her breast at the superbowl. justine timberfake exposed her breast, and then lied about the whole thing. but somehow, janet was the one singled out and labeled a liar, despite the fact that she didn't make ANY PUBLIC COMMENTS WHATSOEVER after the performance. it was that Usher clone who did all the talking, yet people like to forget that little fact. now '20YO' can be blamed for the music, (yet it still went platinum!) but that's because janet let JD take control of that project, and she's on a whole other level artistically than JD and mariah. JD makes ghetto chickenhead music, that's why he works with mariah so well, because mariah is the ultimate chickenhead. Janet is in an entirely different class. as far as mariah goes, she got lucky last time. some people are saying 'janet is old; her time is up', guess what? mariah's not exactly 21, hell, she's not even 31, and christina aguilera is supposed to be dropping an album around the same time as mariah. so if anyone needs to worry about being too old for the young crowd, it's mariah, because christina is younger, and has a better voice nowadays than mariah, not to mention christina IS 25. Janet has nothing to worry about. new label, new management, and JD not working on her album all spells success. Janet didn't become an Icon for no reason.

damn the janet stans are in full force... its good to see that some of yall are real, lets face it, janet is better as a actor, she needs to start trying to find roles so she can still have some kind of career... mariah can sing, i cant stress that enuff, janet only dances... janet will not be ruling like mariah... these aint the "velvet rope" days! i like janet but i feel she needs to go look into other ventures... she should also look into creating some kind of dance academy...

mariah is no threat to The Icon in no way whatsoever. her album was supposed to come out on November 27, but got pushed back. then, it was supposed to come out the same day as Mary J.'s, but got pushed back again. that's never a good sign. mariah's the one that should be worried.

i'm not really a fan of either one, but to say that janet doesn't have a career is ridiculous. you can clearly see her influence in all the artists out there right now, especially the females. while mariah does indeed have the voice, we all know that it takes more than that to become a mega star. and as far as i can see, janet has all areas covered. she may not have mariah's voice, but she CAN sing, we know she can dance, and her latest movie proves that she can act. mariah, on the other hand, has the voice, but she can't dance, and we all saw 'Glitter' LMAO. so my point is, just because you can sing in five octaves doesn't mean you're the best of the best. if that's the case, then christina aguilera put mariah to shame a LONG time ago.

It's funny how Mariah gets a passed for making safe music with no growth, but your ready Sweep Janet under the rug because her couple of cd's didn't do that good.

I think a few ppl here are a little too eager to count mariah out. Believe me, Mariah doesn't need to worry about a thing. She has a solid and well established fanbase - its grown even more since TEOM. Her next album is highly anticipated and will sell like crazy. Christina aguilera has a good voice yes, but she has nothing on Mariah in terms of her musical success. I laugh when ppl say shes even remote competition to Mariah. Hell she still in Britneys shadow even tho brits been out of the game for awhile lol.

WMA now representing Janet

Janet Jackson has signed with the William Morris Agency (WMA) for representation in all areas, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting.

She will be represented by a team of agents led by Dave Wirtschafter and Charles King that will run across multiple divisions of the agency including film, touring, licensing and merchandising, television, theater, publishing and new technology.

Janet will still be represented by managers Johnny Wright and Kenneth Crear as well as attorney Don Passman.

The same article also states that Janet "is prepping a worldwide tour to promote a new album due in February."

Mariah ruled the 90's... she won numerous artist of the decade awards even an artist of the Millenium award. There are tons of artists out there that have been inspired by Mariah such as Nelly Furtado, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, christina aguilera and even beyonce.

They both real good at what they do & I'm big fans of both so I can't wait for there new albums!

Even without Virgin promoting 20 Y.O., it still went platinum. That's because Janet has a huge fanbase behind her. Where I live they didn't even play her singles from that album on the radio... but people here still rushed out to get it. Virgin didn't treat Janet right after the Superbowl incident, and now, with a new label behind her, get ready for the return of one of the greatest entertainers of all-time. RESPECT. Yo Janet is coming back. She is doing the damn thing whether u love her or hate her. She did a really good job in "Why Did I Get Married"!!!
