Have y'all seen the new Mary J. Blige album cover for Growing Pains?

Mary is rockin' it hard Nina Simone style. Thats kinda fly. Real Imma grown ass woman on my regal black woman ish.

Maybe things will be just fine.

But wait... y'all up on that Kevin Michael?

I want y'all to spend some time with "Love Letter." This dude is channeling Rahsaan Patterson in my head. Track is incredible. IMMA NEED Y'ALL TO LOVE THIS ONE!

I hope y'all picked up this man's cd. If not DO IT... PRONTO TINTO!

And before y'all run up outta here... check this video of the Korean girl putting it down on stage, singing "And I Am Telling You."

That Korean chick blew up the stage. She had the neck roll and everything.

Fuckin' beautifiul!!!

I heard MJB's album was being pushed back...not sure though.

I guess the whole "Nina-Simone" look comes from the fact that she's supposed to play her in a movie soon.

By the way, you should check out Nina Simone's "See-Line Woman (Master's At Work Remix)" - I think's it one the Verve Remixed album.

Kevin MIchael's album is on point.

I'm a fan of Rahsaan Patterson too.

Good look on even mentioning these too.

And please don't ever compare Mary with the legendary Nina Simone. Nina was about something. Some of her songs were subversive in tackling America's racial paradigm. Tracks like "4 Women" and "Mississippi Goddamn" were crucial for the 1960s. Has Mary ever sung about white supremacy in the U.S.? NO!!! So please, give me a fuckin' break!

@ MusicMan-

I heard that it was pushed to Dec 18th... she wanna double up on the Xmas money. Has it been pushed back further than that?

That Kevin Michael stay in heavy rotation.

mary's cover is ok, im glad the video helped me like just fine better, some of those outfits were on point.... i really need to stop playing and get some kevin michael in my life... i heard some of the tracks and this dude is amazing!!!

@Che Guevara,

You're right in the sense that Nina Simone is a legend. I don't think anyone is comparing MJB to Nina. But she is channeling the look. And for the record, she will be playing her in a movie.

Just playing devil's advocate. Nina Simone tackled a lot of social issues during her lifetime through her music. MJB might not have talked about racism, but she does have a really strong following of fans (especially women) who connect with her through her struggles (abuse, drugs, etc) and her ability to get past them...in my opinion, both ladies are legends, just in different areas. They're both about something.

You need 2 chill a lil bit...No Mary hasn't, that's because she hasn't had to deal with the same racial issues that our people dealth with in the 60's; however Mary is a legend for today's generation.

@Soulman...

I heard it was being pushed back to Dec. 11...now you say Dec. 18...Damn.

I'm tired of these albums I want getting pushed back.

-Maxwell (was supposed to come in Feb...now, who knows?)
-Erykah Badu (was suppposed to come out this fall...now who knows?)
and now MJB.

Oh well. At least Jill Scott and Meshell Ndegeocello came out on time.

Meshell Ndegeocello came out on time.

^^^^^

That Me'Shell is BANGING! She gets it every time. EVERY TIME!

That Korean girl is only 15 years old sangin' like that...I'm sorry, but that performance shuts down Jennifer Hudson's rendition. Christina Aguilera, watch your back. This girl might have a shot at being the first Asian superstar in the U.S. if marketed properly.

yeah kevin michael is my boy i heard about him this summer, i had some of his songs, his album is that crack, hes def a breath of fresh air to music, and i def hear rashaan patterson, my fave songs by him are love letter and ha ha ha

the girl can sing, but she can not touch Jen Hudson....not even close

Ugh...Rahsaan has a new record out. Instead of highlighting the white boy poseur...why not show some love for the real thing. Geez.

...if me'shell is so BANGIN' everytime as you say soul man, (which, BTW, i totally agree with, and own all her albums), how come she never gets any bone fide hype, radio play or love from media? if you can get around to it, you state you're a fan, feature a post on her...she get's SO slept on and

(con't)...her music is just the truth...!

I agree with Tyler... Show Rahsaan Patterson some love!

LEGENDS YES NINA WAS BUT MARY IS A LEGEND FOR HER GENERATION.
MARY HAS RECORDED POWERFUL SONGS AS WELL AS HAD SOME POWERFUL VOCAL PERFORMANCES AS OF LATE.I DO AGREE WITH THE PERSON WHO SAID MARY IS CHANNELING NINA THROUGH THE LOOK

BUT YES LIKE MY DANA SAID SHOW OUR MAN RAH SOME LOVE
