I'm all for people doing remakes of classics. Here's how I look at it...if it works then I can bump it in my car along with the original. If not, then i'll throw it away, cuz the original still here.
That being said...Akon's version is not that good...not horrible...but just not that good (especially in comparison to the original).
I'm not a fan of Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop the Music"...but the sample worked a lot better in that track.
It wasn't good but it wasn't horrible. This entire concept sounds like a bad idea.

the song is not horrible...i was expecting worse wen i read "Akon disgraces the king of pop". Wut ppl dont realize is that, there is really no way to improve a great song. The original song is already great, theres nothin more one can do wit it to "wow" someone.

For the millionth time, Michael Jackson was found not guilty. He is innocent of all charges. He walked on all charges. 12 to be exact. Dont you think if they had anything credible on this guy, he would be buried under the jail? The one and only reason he got off was because he was innocent. Get that through your head. This seems to be part of an overall campaign to discredit Michael. As a professional adaptor and transliterator of some note who coincidentally is currently adapting creative material " packaged " for members of the Jackson family amongst my many projects; i think it is a well done quite thoughtful intelligent detailed assiduous adaptation of the original Michael Jackson song. It seems to me that this is an early unfinished rough mix without all the tracks added, and that someone for a bad reason is trying to portray it as something else; but the whole way that the article is framed is suspect; as someone who does precisely this sort of adaptation at an important level; its my opinion that its very very good very thoughtful thorough work; whether or not they ultimately have a " hit " or something truly special or not.

Michael Jackson is a great artist and it's a shame that know-nothings on the internet continue to say he was guilty of those trumped-up charges. Read the transcripts and you'll know that he didn't do anything.
I liked the idea of releasing some king of Thriller tribute and am glad that it's not just going to be a repackaged version of the original album since that's been done before. I'm looking forward to hear the news versions when the album's released. Most of all though, I'm interested to hear Jacko's new album.
