The POP star speaks on Jay Z on the new issue of Complex:


On Jay-Z as a mentor...
"He threw me out there but he guided every step of the way. He told me that the only way people can get to me is through my circle. If my circle is phony, then stuff will get to me." When asked "what stuff," she responded, "The rumors. You don't need people making you believe certain stuff. That's why I keep my best friend by my side all the time."


On starting a new acting career...
"I've read a few scripts. I haven't gone for anything yet, but I'd really want to do an action movie. Like an Aeon Flux or Matrix or Underworld. I love those movies."

On who she would like to work with in Hollywood...
"What's that guy's name who was in that movie with Jessica Alba? Paul..um.... Fast and the Furious.. Paul something.... I think he's really hot." (Referring to Paul Walker)


She is sticking to the pop marketing plan if it kills her.

Ummm… Am I the only 1 who heard that disgustingly snide remark Sarah Silversucks made after Rihanna’s Performance? If U missed it, she said “Rihanna’s mother’s name is Umbrella,” implying that black people have odd names! Now I don’t know about U guys but when I saw that I was pissed. I already didn’t like that host especially after I saw the commercial she did w/ Kenan Thompson where she said black people are always loud especially @ the movie theatres! As a 18 yr. old Alabamian black person, I was highly offended by all the malicious “jokes” she made towards black people. I dont usually go on rants like this but I haven’t seen anybody discuss her “jokes” except for the media talking about how mean it was for her to talk about Paris Hilton going to jail. Which was the only thing she said that was funny. Thank You for your time,lol.

Here we go with the Beyonce' comparisons. Damn people kill me, people want Beyonce' to take a break and give someone else shine. The minute someone else comes up it is like oh she ain't killling it like Beyonce'! I will say this again BEYONCE IS NOT THE END ALL BE ALL!!! SHE IS NOT THE QUEEN OF MUSIC! One thing I look for in an artist is consistency. I am not a Rihanna fan but I don't dislike her either. Based on the performance at the MTV Movie Awards, I'd say she sounded like the record,therefore she's consistent. I think she will be alright only sales and time will tell.

I agree with Scooby, I think we should let Rihanna do her thing and make her money while she can and stop comparing her to others. All performers & singers have a shelf life,as soon as one goes another one comes so I think we should let all of the young women out there in R&B & Pop make their change b/c there are thousands waiting to step in their shoes.

Obviously some of you have never heard Sarah Silverman's act. She always makes jokes that are controversial to make people uncomfortable. It's funny and dry and very smart humor that gets at peoples own insecurities and racist feelings towards others and themselves. Plus it's just funny to watch people skwirm and that's what she does. She has made really "racist" jokes in the past that I find hilarious. She even uses the word nigger in her shows a few times and it's funny. As a black man, I don't get offended. She makes fun of everyone. She also does it about her own Jewish people. Lighten up and take a joke.

Sarah Silverman talks about EVERYBODY for one thing. Two, why do SOME not ALL black people feel like they can talk about white people all they want and call them crackers klansmen etc. but when someone makes the smallest joke about us, we gotta act like they are the biggest racist in the world? She didn't imply that black people have weird names she said that Rihanna's mom's name is "Umbrella". WOW! Think of it this way. The song is basically using an umbrella as a metaphor for someone who will be with her and protect her. Her mother is her metaphorical "Umbrella". Besides, half the people who come on this site (including the bloggers) are hypocrites and racists anyways so what's the point?
