SOHH, Now It's Time To Point Fingers

Toni Braxton went from filing a $10 Million lawsuit against Barry Hankerson, to re-filing her lawsuit at the state level to settling her case with Hankerson and Blackground Records altogether.

All to find out what we suspected all along.

IT WAS KERI'S FAULT!!!!!!

According to the New York Daily News, Barry Hankerson blamed all Toni's woes on her overbearing Mint Condition husband Keri Lewis.

"It was a terrible experience for us," Hankerson told us of working with the singer on his label Blackground Records. "We had to work through her husband to get things done, and it was really tough for us."

"She was with the best hitmakers in the world, but she infused another person in the mix," continued Hankerson. "Look at the back of the albums. All of a sudden you start seeing this new name. You couldn't get to Toni or offer her a song."

Braxton's rep replied: "[Hankerson's] continuing to blame Toni's husband for everything except Hurricane Katrina is both untrue and unfounded."

Now how many of you didn't guess that a lot of this had to do with her husband. Ever since she let him touch her music, she's been damaged goods. Note the decline in sales from when he first showed up... right around The Heat.

Toni and Keri seem happy and committed in their marriage and God bless that, however since everyone feels like Whitney Houston's My Love Is Your Love was so hip hop influenced because of Bobby Brown and now that they've separated she's consorting with music royalty again and not just Cherelle.... should Toni wait til she gets divorced to record again?

Is that what it will take to get another good album out of her? Yea yea she's never been horrible... but the quality of the music went down hill after Secrets. Say whatcha will.

people always trying to break up someone's marriage. Its barry's fault, he just wants to blame someone on his lack of skills, look @ his company, no one on his company has had success, not even aaliyah until she died, imagine how big she would still be if she were somewhere else. barry needs to go to hell!

Well, I shoulda known he was to blame. These divas (Toni, Whitney, and as much as I hate to hate admit it - Janet) lettin' these niggas fuck w/ their art & virtually fuck over their careers brings new meaning to the term "Love Is Blind". And, yes...
Maybe Toni definitely SHOULD wait until she gets a divorce to make another album b/c her last what... two albums have been ATROCIOUS, and now we all know why. It's a damn shame these divas do this!!! :(

^ I know! And it's not like her music was horrible. It was aight. But there was just no promotion at all. And I don't think it has something to do with her husband.

No one on that label sells that well because they don't know how to promote albums. Toni's last few album were to me better than than her earlier work. She just needed better promotion. Its easy to blame her husband, I think she needs him because before when her albums were selling 10 mil she went bankrupt. Now record execs can't abuse her because there is someone looking out for her interests.

It's everyone's fault. This finger-pointing foolishness is ridiculous. People need to accept some accountability.

Toni is always looking to blame the label when things go wrong. I believe it was her and her hubby's fault. This is not the first time Toni has accused the label of fucking up her career. At what point do you look at yourself and what your doing.

Fuk drama

if Barry thought the Husband was at fault why settle so soon? why not fight it?BTW "The Heat" was a good album as well as "Libra". I think there was a problem with promotion.

However I do believe that when female artists let their boyfriends/husbands interfere with their work,it's a platform for trouble. If anything you can collaborate with your mate now & then but never get totally involved in each others careers.

And everyone wants jay z and beyonce to get married know i see why he said "so she can be all she can be"

Toni's performance was wack, cristinia stole the show again.

Here we go with the stupid finger-pointing. It's not Barry's fault, not her husbands fault nor is it her fault. Toni stopped selling because the landscape of music had changed and younger folks (who buy all this music, by the way) weren't feeling her. You can count on one hand the number of acts that were hot in the early to mid-nineties that are still hot now (R. Kelly, Mariah Carey, MJB). Toni seems to forget that during her one real last shot to stay relevant with the young crowd she couldn't promote that album because she was pregnant. No one is really to blame here, Toni needs to stay in here lane in Vegas, make that money and appeal to her core audience and stop trying to court the youngins. Boyz II Men are overseas killing it, making about 2-3 million a year and could care less about what people over here think. Sometimes you just have to face reality and realize that you're not hot anymore, but you can still make a nice living off your previous accomplishments.

This is the only blog popin today so I wanted to drop a line. Toni B. still looks beautiful as ever. I just wanted to say that Presidents Day should NOT be during our history month!!! Check the history on some of our founding fathers!!!!! Hate to stay political, but this ish is too much!!

Washington
operated his plantations as a typical Virginia slave owner. In the 1760s, he dropped tobacco (which was prestigious but unprofitable) and shifted to wheat growing and diversified into milling flour, weaving cloth, and distilling brandy. By the time of his death, there were 317 slaves at Mount Vernon.

Jefferson
owned many slaves over his lifetime. Some find it baffling that Thomas Jefferson owned slaves yet was outspoken in saying that slavery was immoral and it should be abolished

Madison
Another of my wishes is to depend as little as possible on the labour of slaves.

Monroe
demonstrating great administrative ability and winning praise for his decisive action to suppress a slave uprising (Gabriel's Insurrection) in 1800.

Andrew Jackson
himself has been denounced as a fraud and opportunist who nearly wrecked the credit and currency facilities of this nation, a right-wing reactionary, a defender of slavery, and a vengeful murderer of Native Americans.

Martin Van Buren
He assured the South that he would protect slavery in the states where it existed and announced his opposition to the abolition of the "peculiar institution" in the District of Columbia.

Willam Harrison Henry
declared he was in favor of emancipation only if the slaves were sent back to Africa

John Taylor
proposed eliminating the slave trade (but not slavery) in the District of Columbia. “Mr Tyler stated that… (he) had a decided objection to the District of Columbia being made a slave mart, a depot for the slaves brought from the two neighboring states

Polk
his plantation was troubled by slaves running away to nearby plantations & when Polk visited the plantation he had the most recent two brought back and whipped.

Zachary Taylor
“I too have been all my life industrious and frugal, and that the fruits thereof are mainly invested in slaves, of whom I own three hundred.”

Milford Filmore s
igned a law banning the slave trade (but not the ownership of slaves) in Washington, D.C.. Asians would be permitted in to replace the slave labor force.

Franklin Pierce : “
I believe that involuntary servitude as it exists in different states of this Confederacy, is recognized by the constitution. I believe that it stands like any other admitted right, and that the states where it exists are entitled to efficient remedies to enforce the constitutional provisions

J. Buchanan
There can be no middle course. Is there any man in this Union who could, for a moment, indulge in the horrible idea of abolishing slavery by the massacre of the high-minded, and the chivalrous race of men in the South?"

Lincoln
“I confess I hate to see the poor creatures hunted down, and caught, and carried back to their stripes, and unrewarded toils; but I bite my lip and keep quiet

Andrew Johnson
As a state legislator AJ proposed amending the Tennessee constitution so that slaves would no longer be counted in calculating representation. At the time they were being counted as three-fifths of a free person, the same as in the federal constitution, giving a large advantage to counties where many slaves were owned

US Grant "
The people of Mexico are a very different race of people from ours. The better class are very proud and tyrinize over the lower and much more numerous class as much as a hard master does over his negroes, and they submit to it quite humbly

Hey King of the Burbz nice name
John Brown (1736-1803) was an American merchant and statesman from Providence, Rhode Island and founder of Brown University.
Born in Providence, January 27, 1736, Brown went on to own a successful farming and shipping business with his brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, and Moses Brown. He was active in the slave trade and china trade and invested heavily in privateers during the 1760s through 1780s

If this is the case, Toni should step up and make her own decisions about her career.

and her settling so soon shows that the problem was probably on her end.

Doesn't surprise me one bit! I stopped checking for Toni after the marriage. Things just weren't the same. Secrets was full of great production and lyrics. You could play the album all the way through. She waited four years and then released Heat which had a total of 3 good songs! Now she's doing Vegas? Toni still has the look and ability to make it outside of Vegas!

ok so toni still as an amazing voice and she looks great yes promotion had something to do wth it but also i think tht her husband was alsomixed up in it i mean sriously thtsher man he's goin to b tere tellin her wht she can and can not do so maybe there were certain promotional things tht she wasnt able to do bcuz of him and actually JoJo(the little white girl tht can sang) she's on blackground and she's selling so u cant say tht nobody on blackground sells

SHOULD HAD NEVER LEFT LAFACE RECORDS. PLEASE DON'T BLAME IT ON THE DUDE. EVEN IF TRUE, SHE NEED TO TAKE BLAME FOR THE DECISION MADE. SHE WILL NEVER SEE THE SUCESS SHE HAD ON LAFACE, RIGHT NOW SHE COULD HAD BEEN ON DEF JAM MAKING MARIAH CAREY PAPER. EVERYBODY KNOW THAT BROAD IS UNSTABLE BUT ENOUGH SMART TO MAKE WISE DECISION. WHY IS THIS BLOG PUTTING BLAME ON THE HUSBAND. ENE IF HE DOES HAVE PART OF THE RECORD COMPANY. STILL DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT SHE COULD SAY NO.. YOU THINK OPRAH WOULD LISTEN TO STEADMAN..NOT TO DOWN WOMEN, BUT THAT'S A POOR EXCUSE TO PUT ON THE BROTHERS.

I thought The Heat was a solid album. I blame LaFace and Toni for not carrying and promoting that album much futher. However, I do agree that Toni's latest two albums were subpar. These divas need to learn that it is better to leave the song selections to the honchos who catapulted them to superstardom.

Vocal artist are up sometimes and they are down sometimes. There are numerous 1 hit wonders but Ms. Braxton is still around being talked about and still looks flawless after 2 children. If her husband is to blame for her recent downfall then I hope she gets it together and realize it soon. Her husband can't be totally to blame especially when Toni I am sure has more sense than to let a man ruin her career. I think she wanted some new flavor and it just didn't work out for her.
