As we all discovered on Friday (Nov. 10), R&B heavyweight Gerald Levert took leave of all earthly knowings and dwellings. SOHH.com/SOHH Soulful mourns his passing and celebrates his life.
Over the weekend his family released a statement thanking well wishers and expressed their need for priacy at this difficult time.
Apparently Gerald may be heard quite soon on a collaboration with Styles P, which if released may become a commercial hit for the rapper and fallen R&B soldier.

Rumor has it that Ludacris' 2nd single titled "Runaway Love" features Mary and "Never Gonna Break My Faith" a duet with Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is said to lead the charge of music coming off the soundtrack for the movie, "Bobby."

I wasn't impressed with what I heard thus far. "lost Ones", I think that's the joint about Beyonce, Dame Dash and his nephew. That one was good. It seemed like real personal commentary.
I thought it was nice look in2 him written in pure Jay form. After that,
nothing noteworthy.
Gerald LeVert did his music for his fans he was not interested in trying to make people like him. He never went pop - he stay true r&b soul til the day he died and he has a new single that will be out soon and a CD - they said he has so much music that he has in the vault!
He has NEVER had a platinum album - damn. Well I have all of the them except the last one and I am making my way to Best Buy today to get it!

Yeah the singles he released are kinda lukewarm, but there's at least 2 on the CD that I had run back on first listen LOL. The rest (so far, cause I still got bout 5 to listen to) have growth potential. Its definitely not trash, at any rate. But on first listen, not what most were expecting from him.
I didn't know about the Xscape girl but I saw his daughter on MTV's My Sweet 16.

Honestly, when I first heard the New Hov...I was like the First 7 songs are Hard Hitting....just plain DOPE. The Usher & Beyonce joints I'm not too fond of...But Overall, I think its a better Black Album. I think cats hating on the album...(Listening @ Work) and all that BS...needs to go ahead and take that with them on the ride home cause he's coming with some serious flow in that Album....I just think the "HATE ON JAY-Z" climate is in full effect.. But after listening to it agian, I think its a good album and a good look for dude. Its all about what you're expecting. Well another one of our great singers have passed and all I can say is damn... From the group Levert to all of his solo albums to any collaborations he did Gerald always put his mark on the song... And that was something we really dont get to often nowadays... He will surely be missed.
