Tyrese, Latavia and the SOHH Soulful Top 5

Tyrese performed here in New York City on Monday (Oct. 16) not only as Tyrese, but as Black Ty, his rapping alter ego. Yes, homeboy is serious about being a triple threat: singer, rapper and actor.

Of the well wishers in the crowd the night Ty Ty performed was rapper Fabolous.

MTV News interviewed Tyrese on his thoughts about Fabolous taking one for the team. Tyrese recalls:

"I was just with him. He was in my dressing room last night hanging out. He leaves my concert, goes to a restaurant, gets shot. Crazy. But that's what hip-hop is. Is it threatening, intimidating? Yeah. At times."

I don't know, but that might make me not want to be a rapper if peeps in your own circle are taking bullets at random. But fools rush in, SOHH we'll reconvene once Ty Ty himself goes through said rite of passage. Dumb ass. Read full article here.

LaTavia, formerly of Destiny's Child, is officially on MySpace.com and has left a message for her fans.

I am in the process of completing my book, which will be out soon, and also working on my documentary/reality show. Because reading is so important to me, I would like for all of my fans and friend to support The Book Bank Foundation, which is in my #1 spot. Once again, thanks for the love and support.

But get in to the video message. It's so easy to dismiss her but we're gonna give her a hall pass. She too has a Grammy for "Say My Name" and is from the exact same boot camp as Bey and Kells. LeToya proved the underdog should not be counted out.

But while you were wondering why terror threats only appear at election time, we are counting the number of CDs Kelis sold on just one hand and compiling our...

Yo yo!

Man, first of all, how many of Usher's friends' girls be checkin on him (in song that is)? Damn. Dudes might wanna think twice before chillin with him.

Latavia? Almost thought that was a pic of Nivea. Well, at least she didn't follow with an album. I think the book thing is a good look. Can't be having every single ex destiny child's member on the radio.

BTW, anybody listen to Ruben's new CD? That shit is so boring.

Hot 5 (in no particular order)

Jojo - High Road
JT - All Over Again

I haven't checked the Diddy yet though.

I'm in cameo mode again, just wanted to say that Usher joint is pretty addictive. It might be leftovers but it ain't no coincidence it's a different sound, maybe a precursor to what we might get from ol boy.

Yeah I am ready for him now! He need to do the dang thang. I heard he was sick over the weekend and peeps were disappointed b/c he did not perform in Chicago this past weekend.

And yeah that pic of Tyrese is looking a lil Tyson Beckford suspect :-)

But his song is beautiful. I had to pull out my Brian McKnight - Back at One this AM...lol

But I am going back to Diddy in a minute :-)

quE...Same song...I just forgot all the people. The original w/ Hi Tek and Nas was hot so adding the others was a good look.
Yeah, it was a fitting tribute to J Dilla too. He's got a couple of bangers on that album.

I'm just glad he's back w/ Kweli again-that's like the Underground's Snoop and Dre.

4real:

I'm glad that I'm not the only one feellin' donell jones.

4Real:
Yeah I like JoJo - my daughter has it and it is a good CD - I put some tracks in my ipod this week. That lil chica can sing. But I am waiting on Joss Stone to drop another bomb.

I was listening to Jennifer Hudson singing the Dreamgirls song by Jennifer Holiday - Jen Hudson has a wonderful voice but she ain't got shit on Jen Holliday - Holliday is the queen that reigns supreme on that song.

Did yall catch the Black Movie Awards last night on TNT? It was a good classy show! Jill Scott killed the Billie Holiday song for Lady Sings the Blues - Jill is a baaaaddddd byyyytttcch and she was looking real fierce.

Naj

Very true! I love that joint! I havent heard the "Country Cuzins" jont with Talib and UGK. But Im sure its fyahhh!! We need more North/South collabs like this. Thats a real good look.

Fa-Bo-Lo-Us

No when was this? Got a link?

Donnell is another one of those artists that is heavily slept on. His cd is straight fire and I don't understand why he has not blown up yet for as long as he has been doing this! I don't get it. Love that man!

My daughter has it too, she has her last cd also and I caught myself singing along, little girl can go, and this cd is doing very well right now, diddy better watch out, I like that Too Little Too Late also, and can't wait for that Joss also.

Thanks Fab
She did a good job (but then I'm kinda biased) because Bey always kills it!

I have never been. I have heard such good things about here live show. Last night on that show. She did that song so much justice - she gave Ms Billie a run for her money. Jill is a bad girl! Love her.

And Tyler Perry was funny as hell. They showed about a 10 minute skit in the beginning of the show. Where he Ike/Tina - Sophia/Ceily - Loretta Devine/Gregory Hines(Waiting to Exhale) - I was funny as hell. If you have not seen it please try to catch it. It was a pretty classy show. No long drawn out mess. good stuff on TNT!

Ummm unfortunately, the last time I "intervened", was "Lil Star" and the next thing you know I'm at Best Buy (as ther were plenty of Kelis CDs to choose from), and that didn't turn out well.

Me either, I mean his cd debuted at #1 on the R&B charts but after like 3wks it was like WTF, but the cd is FIYAH, it's still in rotation in my car, I love me some Donell, my cousin told me he can't keep it in his barber shop he copies the cds and people come buy them from him, now that's another reason why peoples numbers fail, just wrong.

2rrtn
i just thought it was cool how she could go to another country and sing their anthem. whereas there are some singers who don't even know america's. lol. but, just thought i would share that with you when i saw you post this morning.

and Avant is another great album that was heavliy slept on imo.
